Jaguar C-X75 Lives To Die Another Day

Confirmation that JLR products as well as Astons will feature in the forthcoming Bond movie

We already know that 007 himself will drive a one-off Aston Martin in the next instalment of everyone's favourite bulletproof spy franchise. But now we also know that there will be a variety of Jaguar and Land Rover products in the out-this-autumn Spectre as well, with the star being a welcome return for the C-X75 hybrid supercar concept that we're told will "feature in a spectacular car chase sequence through Rome alongside the Aston Martin DB10."

That's got to be worth the price of a ticket alone, surely?

No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to drive...
No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to drive...
And given that we're assuming Daniel Craig will have bagsied the Aston, it's safe to extrapolate that the Jaguar is likely to be driven by one of the film's baddies, and that it's therefore likely to emerge in less-than-perfect nick (hence the headline. For which we apologise.) The official release also promises we'll see the new Range Rover Sport SVR and what's called a 'Defender Big Foot' with 38-inch off-road tyres, both of which have featured in scenes filmed in Austria.

There have been other Jags in other Bond films of course, with the most memorably probably the ridiculous Gatling-gun equipped XKR cabrio that took on Pierce Brosnan's Aston Vanquish in an ice palace in 'Die Another Day'.

Compared to that, a 900hp supercar with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine sounds completely convincing, doesn't it? It will be interesting to see if the electric side of the Jaguar's powertrain gets to power any of its weaponry... how about Tesla coils?

Fabulous car, but a pity the author didnt do his research as he would have read on many other sites that it wont have the electric set up and will have the 5.0 V8 supercharged for the purposes of the film.

Who knows maybe the company could be persuaded to put the v8 and in it and make it ?

Makes an R8 look like a bus!

I agree. Surely 600bhp is in reach of the V8 (in production spec).

Thing is though I can't see how they would be able to sell within arms reach of the R8 V10 on cost. You'd be looking at 458 money at least )or more considering this was developed looking at the P1 end of the market at the outset) and I dont think there's enough people at that end of the spectrum that would want that car with a tweaked engine from a saloon car.

Such an evil looking car in that black.

During a dramatic scene, the music suddenly stops (sound of needle scratch on a vinyl record) and Bond pulls to the side of the road.

A jobsworth in a hi-viz jacket steps into view. He frowns at his clipboard.

Cut to scene of Jag being hoisted on the back of a truck.

This has been at WAE in Grove for a while now as I believe they were involved somewhere along the line. Apparently some of the bods from Williams F1 took it for a spin too.

Seriously- I'm in the wrong industry!

I think Jaguar will release a limited production run of this car with the Supercharged 5.0 V8 and probably sell them as a halo product and price them close to what an Aventador goes for.

Looking forward to seeing that!

I know four people who work at JLR and it is true that they are all just jobsworths who complain about work and turn up only as much as necessary to keep their jobs.

The product placement was so obvious in the last film that it really pissed me off (and I'm not aversed to PP)

Not as bad as in the 1990s. BMW and Ericsson seemed to pop up every ten seconds.

The worst ones for me were the first couple of Daniel Craig films, where literally every car featured in the film and in the background was from FoMoCo which then included Aston, JLR, Volvo as well as numerous Fords....it was so unsubtle as to be comical.

am I missing something here?

remove existing 500Bhp 10,000rpm engine to fit a 500Bhp 6000rpm engine?

why?

HOLD ON A MINUTE!!!

Look at this:

What do you see? yup, that's right, it's a Defender WITHOUT beam axles yikes

Which means either it's been photoshopped, or it's on an "independent suspension" chassis, ie Disco/RR!

Good spot. Quote from the press release says:
"Scenes including the heavily modified Land Rover Defenders & Range Rover Sport SVR have already been filmed in Austria. The Range Rover Sport SVR is the fastest and the most powerful Land Rover ever. The highly capable Big Foots were constructed by the Special Operations division with huge 37-inch diameter off-road tyres to tackle the extreme terrain. They also feature bespoke suspension and enhanced body protection."

Because a 500Bhp 1.6 production ready engine doesn't exist?

Other than the fact that there is a factory churning out the latter and there are only a handful of the former?
