I came home from work today to find a note through my letterbox from my neighbour saying that they'd had to call the police as someone had been taking bits off my car at 6AM this morning. Thieving 3.14key bds had stolen my side skirts and centre caps.

Now feeling angry, disappointed, annoyed and a bit vulnerable to be honest. I know it's not that much to have been taken, it could afterall have been the whole car!

It's more the fact that, when you've worked hard to have something nice, and something you enjoy driving, the thought of these feckless scumflanges stealing your stuff without a care in the world, makes you want to find them and hurt them badly! Then take your stuff back from them, obviously.

So, if anyone else has had anything stolen from their cars, or the car itself, what was it, and how did you deal with it?

When I finally came to the painful realisation that I would never have the time, money or inclination to finish 2 old project cars I put my mk1 golf up for sale on ebay. I'd had it for 5-odd years and was the first car that I'd really made my own rather than just tinkering with, so it was hard enough to do anyway.

3 days after the auction going live I got a call from the council saying the garage had been broken into. It seems someone unsavoury had recognised the garages from the photos on the advert and taken it upon themselves to smash a window in, crease the door frame/window trim and nick a tool box, jump leads and set of bike carbs on a manifold out the boot.

It's a devestating feeling.
