Hi,

Just after some out of the box suggestion for a motor.

Must be able to carry four passengers.
Must have a large load space
Ideally have roof bars
Ideally a low tax & insurance group
Ideally MOT until Oct
Budget £800 max

Not bothered for age, mileage, engine, fuel, spec etc.

It'll be solely to do a few camping trips with kids this summer. Had wanted a V70 but suspect there are probably cheaper options out there.

Cheers.

The car is for me. Yes, not bothered what branded, hankered after Volvo but probably overkill. Maybe some horrible MPV type thing is what I need but know nothing about them.

Happy with a crap MPG and actually now under the new tax rules happy with high tax band too as I'll just do it for the month.

Maybe something like this but ideally not 5 hours away!

Old Legacy or Outback in that budget? 4wd might be handy for getting in and out of muddy campsites.

Mondeo estate? Simply because there will be plenty to choose from and you should be able to find one with a decent MOT on it. Should be able to get a Mk3 with the 1.8 or 2.0 petrol engine for that money.

Insurance should be cheap, but you won't find anything with cheap tax when you want something old and large.

Saab 9-5 - I sold my 101k miler 9-5 Aero a few months ago for £750, new discs and pads all round, 11 months MOT, 5000 mile old Uniroyal Rainsport 3's, was not perfect (tiny oil leak, bonnet would have benefitted from a respray) but was 100% reliable
