Looks like someone is in a spot of bother.

Dashcams are absolutely brilliant. The owner of this ST suspected staff at the Ford dealership took his car out for a spin when he noticed how much petrol had been used. So he took the car back to the garage, attached the cam and someone at the dealership took it out for a spin and was caught doing 118mph in it!

That on the Heysham -Lancaster bypass...I think. There's a big Ford garage near there.

Fairly certain it's a Nextbase 402G - it even says NBDVR402G (short for Nextbase Digital Video Recorder 402).
And they're not small.

The Octotelematics tracker on my Impreza STI 330S once told me my car was doing 116mph on a busy local A road. The problem is, I was at work and the car was in the dealers because it had started to produce low power and massive amounts of blue smoke in the usual Subaru ringland failure. So they were thrashing the crap out of my car on a broken engine. When I phoned up to complain, I was told, in a very curt and condescending way "we know what we're doing". So, if you want to get your Subaru serviced in Edinburgh, take it to Falkirk, not Penicuik. I did report them to Subaru UK. Subaru UK couldn't even be bothered sending a letter back to me or getting in touch!

I'd be livid given that for speeding the law is the RC is presumed guilty and has to prove his/her innocence and name the guilty party, plus the fact for over a ton its court and a ban or a big fine. No doubt the garage would have denied all knowledge too.

Could you not have presented the data to the police...?

I was tempted, but asking a friend in traffic, he reckoned it probably wouldn't stick as they'd need to prove the calibration of the system in court. I've hung on to the text message for posterity, though! I was tempted to take it round to the horribly rude service manager and insert it in his rectum.

Didn't have a dashcam in my BRZ when I took it for its first service, but when I picked it up, the trip computer indicated that it had been driven for 6 miles at 14mpg. Even when I'm hooning I get 25 plus.

Even at 118 it looks pedestrian on that road, it looks really wide with great views down it.

Not wanting to be funny, but this is the sort of thread that should be on mumsnet. The only problem you have with this guy is the 118mph.

I didn't see him do anything I would call dangerous. Furthermore noone seems to ask why the car was in the garage and what for.

The focus ST is a bit of a performance car. If the fault was 'it fluffs high up in the rev range', how do you want them to test it?

I'm not saying they should be able to do anything with your car that you like, but if the fault in a performance car can't be tested below the speed limit, do you really want the garage to give you the car back and tell you they can't fix it unless you pay them to go on a track?

I think I need a bit more information before I condemn this chap, and if this was actually PH and not mumsnet you would too.

Well, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and didn't mention it.
