Cigarettes thrown from cars

Is it just me or is this getting a lot more common now.
I find it really ignorant to other road users and dangerous. Annoys me when filtering in slow moving traffic and they eject it from their window rearwards, bounces off your bonnet, bright embers fly everywhere and they don't seem to give a toss when you get annoyed at them. It's the same at night when you see one bouncing down the road in front of you, i hate watching it bounce along under my car.
Even worse when i'm on the motorbike, find myself ducking under them.

Think that - and you won't be disappointed.
I believe the figure is far lower - but still significant.
It has nothing to do with wealth, education, stature etc.
It has everything to do - with how you were brought up.
My folks, and theirs had nothing - but you learned to clean up after your s

No ash trays in modern cars!
This is probably the real reason, unless you spec it, you don't get one.I remember choosing a Volvo V40 in the 90's as a company car, the demonstrator had one, but the car that arrived didn't, so I sent it back and had a Laguna estate instead.
I'm surprised the op thinks it is getting more common though, although I'm guilty of it myself from time to time, I'd have expected the frequency to be dropping, due to we are told the number of smokers is decreasing and the fact a lot of companies no longer allow people to smoke in vehicles these days, supposedly.
I agree with the OP that this does seem to be becoming more common. I wonder if like me you are none smoker and it winds none smokers up more!?
I also agree to an extent with one of the replies except I would use the word 'selfish' instead of 'scum'. Even if people dod have ash trays they would still rather chuck it out of the car than have it dirty in the car.
It's only happened once but the one that really got my goat was when a car going the other way decided to flick it on to my windscreen - had to be done on purpose - 'for a laugh' no doubt....
Perhaps next time i'm give them some beams - mwahahahaha

I'll be interested in the continuing posts of if it is on the increase.
As a smoker it has become a strange fact to me, that smoking in public places has dropped so much, that I can now tell if someone lights up, I can actually smell it, and it seems unusual.
You wouldn't expect a smoker to notice that really, would you ?

An inexcusable, filthy practice!

- there is a bin at your house?
- at the office?
- at a petrol station?
- at everywhere you stop?
Heck - even dog walkers carry nappy sacks to clean up after their dog s
t.Seriously - there is no excuse.
If you had a dinner party - if all your guests - brought their ashtrays in - and dumped it on your carpet- you wouldn't be best pleased.
So - why is it acceptable for you to dump it - onto someone else's carpet/ tarmac etc?
i really cannot understand why someone would do such a s
tty thing?Edited by Troubleatmill on Saturday 14th February 00:37
Used ashtrays smell like used ashtrays. Simply chucking the wee tiny little biodegradable knub out of the window solves this.
I can't remember the last time I had a cigarette while driving and I don't do it frequently but I don't see how people can let something so insignificant raise their blood pressure.
I hate littering and always stub out and bin cigarettes when I'm not driving but to my mind chucking a fag but on the road is basically a non-issue to me even though I no longer do it.
Flicking it up in the air or when driving at speed in a built up area is an issue.

I've also been known to fart in public, I've probably picked my nose at some time or other, I may even have broken the odd speed limit, parked on a double yellow line, whatever ...................... hang me !

tty behaviour ever again. When ashtray is full - empty into bag.
Tie bag into knot.
Store it - until you stop the car next time
Put bag into bin
I'm sure you can manage it.

OH NO !How do you cope ?
Do you lay awake at night wondering how the people behind you are coping with your exhaust fumes ?
What happens when it rains and you car squirts dirty water at others ?
First world problems eh ?

It's not socially acceptable for heroin junkies to abandon the detritus of their filthy habit in the streets, yet smokers think they have carte blanche to do the same.
The only good smoker is a dead smoker.
I appreciate fag butts aren't the nicest of things to you holier than thou non smoking types, but you aren't likely to get a needlestick injury or worse from one are you ?The only good smoker is a dead smoker.
As for the last bit, all in good time I'm sure, then you'll be able to benefit from the extra pensions we aren't receiving.
It'll all be win win for you in the end !

I'm sure you are happy enough for me to dump it in your front garden.
A simple YES/NO will suffice.
Doesn't bother me all that much. You'll die about as quickly from breathing in car exhaust on the street as you will from breathing in cigarette smoke from passing smokers. I'm more concerned about people being distracted by their smoking while they're driving than I am about the smoke and how they discard the unsanitary byproduct of their nasty habit.
But still, even if it isn't the end of the world, you still shouldn't be chucking your fag ends onto the floor, you filthy curs! And filter cigarette smokers shouldn't try pulling that "oh but it's biodegradable" s
t - the bit you chuck away is the least biodegradable part of the whole thing! That's why you chuck it away, rather than burning it and inhaling the smoke like you do with all the rest. Please, tip it into your car's ashtray.
