Hi I'm looking for a 4x4 with three rows of seats and where all the windows open. So far I have used a Defender, but found this uncomfortable (and so did the passengers) and a pre 99 Shogun (but this is now getting on a bit).

Can anyone recommend a vehicle that meets the criteria;

- 4wd
- seats 6
- all windows open (including those in the third row/boot)

I'm open to a modified van - the transporter looks like it could fit the bill but I've not seen one where the windows open?

Any ideas?

Thanks for that suggestion... but...

The rear seats appear to have no footwell? Unless you were a kid I don't think you would fit in? Essentially this looks the same design as the shogun.

Hmmm...not many have opening windows alongside the 3rd row. In fact, I can't think of any recent ones.

What kind of photography are you doing?

The LC 120 has a small opening to the rear set of windows - I'm sure they could be tinkered with to open further.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nothing seemd to fit the bill so far.

So few cars have rear opening windows.

The lc120 looks interesting but the rear seats look like child seats - no footwell and the windows don't fully open from what I can see....

The Mercedes GL has 7 seat capacity, don't think the very rear windows open though, and it is a large thing for narrow roads.

I've got a Delica, ideal for the photography purpose I use it for but the middle windows don't open and the back ones only open a little bit.

Just buy any car with enough seats and storage space for what you need and a pair(s) of wellies and walk to what ever it is you are photographing.

Some of the Nissan Patrol/Safari LWB versions had 3 rows of seats and opening rear windows.

Can't you just buy the most suitable 4x4 and then have some new opening windows fitted in place of the fixed ones.

Sure they won't be the cheapest windows you'll ever buy as they will be a one-off, but could save you compromise in other areas b

Nissan Pathfinder has opening rear glass - admittedly this is directly behind the third row rather than beside it......
