Long term ownership-What are your experiences?
Discussion
I've had my BMW e30 320i touring for 10 years today!
it doesn't feel like it has been that long, but the v5 doesn't lie. When I think of all the changes in other areas of my life, its quite nice having something that is a constant.
She may have some "trigger's broom" elements, but I for one, cannot imagine not having the 6cyl charmer about.
Have any of you kept one car for an extended period? If so what are your most memorable experiences?
I've pulled mine together into a blog with some pics:

Father jep is part x'ing his S80 next week. It's an '03 that he bought with 16 miles on the clock, and it will leave him with somewhere in the region of 195k on it.
The interior is immaculate, the engine still pulls like a train and he's averaged 45mpg over its life with him. The gearbox is starting to get a bit clunky and there's a little leak in the aircon that he can't find, but otherwise it's not bad for something that's nearly reached the moon...

Just buried a 1.2 Punto last June that we bought new for Mrs Dawg in 1999 and I took over for my commute in 2010. The little tin box did 138,000 largely trouble free miles and cost pretty much nothing to run. I was so impressed that I replaced it with another (albeit new model one).
My current Alfa 75 I've only owned since 2008 but I'll keep it as long as I can. 80,000 miles in my care and great memories including breaking our Nordschleife duck together.

13 years ago I bought a brand new Zafira 1.8 Automatic. We couldn't fit a baby seat in our year old 51 plate Mini Cooper S so it was sold. The only attraction of the Zafira was size and 0% finance with only one income. When I collected it and drove home it felt so wallowy compared to the MCS. I hated myself for not buying something more PH - a used RWD something.
But other cars have come and gone and the Zafira is a keeper. It's so comfortable and barge to drive. It will do the Ikea run with the folding front passenger seat, it does the Costco run, the school run, airport runs, tip run and becomes the family hire car when relatives visit and need wheels.
It was also a weird and well specced car for the age - safety conscious with full curtain airbags and ESP. Winter pack, climate, tow bar, leather and roof spoiler as options. I added ports for a Valentine One Radar detector with concealed display, VDO Dayton fixed satnav with a 5" screen, front and rear reversing sensors and in car DVD/screens.
With just a smidge over 100k on the clock it's cost nowt to run apart from tyres and servicing. Still on original exhaust too which has surprised me. I think it's worth around £1,500. With hundreds of coats of wax and sealant it still looks brand new and only the dated boxy styling gives the game away.
