First off, I sm from the Netherlands. That's why the price is in Euros. I am not sure if car prices are comparable in the UK...

I am looking for a fun car to use in the summer. So, a convertible could be a nice bet, but isn't a must-have. The car has to be reliable though and not extremely expensive to mantain and fuel etc. After a long search I ended up with the Mazda MX-5 NC at the top of my list. Is that a good car to buy for summer fun?

If not, what car would you recommend?

Honda S2000
BMW Z4 (I'd get the Coupe)
Nissan 350Z

Or if you want rumble then:

CLK55 low maintenance costs but great fun (I'd get the Coupe with a sunroof)
Audi S4 Convertible
BMW 335i Convertible

All lovely cars, but far more expensive to buy (and run) here in the Netherlands...

Have you ever owned a NC?
If so, what did you like and what didn't you like?

Thanks for the links! I will have a look when I get home and can see it on my laptop instead of my phone. wink

I only know the prices of the first three cars you named, because I also considered those myself. These prices are for decent/nice examples with (far) less than 100k miles on them.

S2000 - €14.000
Z4 - €12.500
350Z - €13.000

Truth be told I have never actually owned an MX-5. They seem like they would be a great car for the Netherlands though.

Moderately sized engine so not too bad on tax, a good heater for the winter months and a drop-top for the lovely summer months. I don't know huge amounts about driving in Holland but it makes sense to me biggrin

Lots of room in your budget for fuel too smile
I might be the only one, but I just don't like the styling on that car.
