Recently started a couple of threads about specific cars (Passat/CC/Leon FR/330i/325i).

I've been out for a drive in a couple of different cars each time I've looked at them. The VAGs (which will come as no surprise) were incredibly dull, but perfect family transport. I would have to finance the majority cost of any of these, which is something neither me or my partner particularly want it do.

The 330/25i, while few and far between for a newer, slightly less mileage saloon, have been the best choice for me so far. Can get a minter for £4k. Great to drive, plenty of power, little if any finance. And the OH likes them too!

Before I seriously consider buying a BMW, is there anything else I should consider?

Up to £4k.
Preferably petrol, though diesel not ruled out.
Fun to drive.
Decent power.
RWD/AWD preferred.
OH has to like it too

Just a few thoughts:

B6 Audi A4 3.2, MK1 Mazda 6 MPS, Mondeo ST220 or 2.5t in the 07< cars, C350 (rather rare) saloon, IS300....

A 330i is probably the best all round package out of the lot. However it may not be the most interesting long term choice.

The 535i is lovely.

I've actually got the 330d saved on my autotrader too, it looks lovely.

Thanks for the links.

Yeah. Id love to.

Unfortunately OH has to drive it too (main family car), I've shown her many Evo, Impreza and Skylines. Those ideas very quickly got shot down. hehe

Didn't realise the 6 MPS were that cheap tbh. Any idea of running costs?

Had a quick look at ST220 and the 2.5T too. Can't seem to get too excited about them tbh, much like the ST 225.

I looked at Lexus's (Lexi?) all that seemed to come up were IS200's (possibly IS220, can't remember the number). Having had a snout around about them, everyone said they're very slow.

Thanks.
