When I bought my e36 BMW it had FK452s all round. The rears are now a bit low so I have been looking to replace them - but can't find them anywhere! Event Tyres, e-tyres, Reifendirekt, and camskill but the only Falken tyre they list in my size (225/50 R16) are ZE912.

Are they still doing them, or not in my size? The tyres on the car are only a couple of years old. tyrereviews says they have been replaced by the FK453 but they are not listed either!

Think I'll probably go for Uniroyal RainSport3 instead...

Obsolete about two years ago. I too tried to find some for the Jag to no avail.

I've been through a few sets of FK452's, they're great budget tyres. They have been replaced by the 453s but from what you are saying I imagine that they have been discontinued in that particular size.

You could look at something a little grippier, I went from 452s all round to Eagle F1s and cornering speeds were increased dramatically. For example on one corner breakaway would occur at ~70mph with the 452s, once my brain had re-calibrated the increase in grip it took ~85mph to induce notable slide with the F1s.

Edit: saying that, in an E36 half of the fun is probably having low grip yet consistent tyres!

I switched from Falken 452s on my E36 328i to Hankook Ventus V12 Evo (K110). They've just been replaced by the Evo2 version (K120) and they don't do them in my size unfortunately. I'd wholeheartedly recommend them, I think they're a better tyre than the 452.

I've had to put a Hankook S1 Evo2 (K117) on instead as it was the only thing available at short notice in 245/40 R17. From what I can tell of just the one, it seems to be very good too and I'll have no issues putting a matching one on the other side when it comes time to change.

Overall I've preferred the Hankooks to the Falkens and they're a good price too.

Had some GY Eagle F1 GSD3s on my MX-5 years ago and they were good fun but pricey. Changed to Toyo T1-Rs which were just as good but cheaper, but they're not so good on heavy cars IMHO. Have become a big fan of Uniroyal Rainsports for all weather driving, and I won't be cornering the e36 on its doorhandles so I think these will get the nod.

FWIW the Falkens seemed a decent tyre although I have had a lot of tramlining recently - would be great if it turns out to be the worn rears as I have been wondering whether I have a load of bushes that need changing.

Fortunately they're obsolete now. Worst tyre I've ever put on a car for mileage - 8k on the rear of my 320d eek Replaced them with Michelin Piolts which have done 14k and still have 4-5mm left (and are a whole lot gripper for not a lot more money)

Nope. It's an underpowered 3-Series and I drive like Miss Daisy, seriously.
