Anyone tried hydropgraphic dipping themselves?
Discussion
I've just bought a rear diffuser for my car. Cost me less than £90 so if it all goes wrong, I can sand down and get the thing painted instead.
I fancy getting it carbon fibre dipped a la Wheeler Dealers. Sent an email enquiry and have had a quote of £150 including vat and return postage. The company seem sound but the price seems a bit steep considering. The item doesn't stand me a lot and neither does the car so I can't really justify spending this amount of money.
I've had a look at a few youtube videos of how to do it and it seems that if you have a steady hand, you can get pretty decent results. What seems important is the water temperature, length of time after applying the activator, and the angle you first enter the item into the water.
So in light of the above, I've boought a piece of carbon fibre film and an can of activator from Ebay for £32 bargain.
So, has anyone tried this? I'm planning on doing it in the bath. Would this wreck our bath and result on my girlfriend killing me? Has anyone tried it?
