Discussion
Hi,
My budget is around 3k and i a thinking of bmw 2002-2004 e46 3 series
I see a lot of cars on autotrader for BMW 3 SERIES 3.0TD 330d SE and
3 SERIES 2.0TD 320d SE diesels all above the 100k clock.
Please could you advise if there are pitfalls of buying old bmws 3 SERIES of that area diesel.
3 SERIES 2.0TD 320d SE 4dr mpg 29.1
3 SERIES 2.9TD 330d Sport 4dr mpg 25.4

I have a 2004 330d Sport Touring with 130k on the clock. It's a fantastic engine and so much more refined than the 2L. I get around 40mpg average with A roads and motorway, and around 31mpg around town and mostly A roads. Mine is paired with the auto gearbox and it suits my needs well enough (commute to and from work).

Major thing to worry about is blown/blowing turbos which is not uncommon.
The E46 is a nice car and the 330d will put a smile on your face and still be fairly economical.
