Cars you wanted as a kid, but now they should be dirt cheap, but you can't because they have died off
Citroen BX GTi was mine
Well we have a surprise for you! Not all of them died off and we've found one in the classifieds, dirt cheap, in bewdiful nick and ready to go....!!!! Citroen BX GTi was mine

I always wanted a red Nova GTE as a kid. I also wanted the sport. The only Nova's I see these days are the GSi which didn't look as nice or standard Nova's which have been modified way beyond normal levels of taste. I know they are not the holy grail of hot hatches but as a teenager, I lusted after them. I've seen a few standard Sports on the web owned by collectors and enthusiasts but I never see a standard GTE.
Always had a soft spot for the Vauxhall Firenza, they were fairly rare compared to the Escort back in the day, but now they just don't seem to exist. When was the last time you saw one on the road, never mind for sale?
They may be a bit rubbish to drive in standard form, and have a tendency to rust, but there is still something about the swoopy shape that just looks right, if only I could find one!

its way dooon sooth though
It's a car - you drive it back. I've always figured if you want a car and it's miles away, and you dont mind taking a punt, one way ticket there and see what happens on the way back.
I did an interesting trip back from Norwich to Nottinghamshire in a car that had 'a small oil leak' - it needed a top up half way, and on the journey I found all the other niggles, the warped discs, the heater that only worked on I and II, the steering wheel wasnt quite straight. I was a bit worried taking it up to NSL speeds, but it coped, and half an hour in I felt a bit more comfortable. I thought that I'd like for it to make it back under it's own steam, but if it arrived on the back of a recovery truck then that saved some petrol money.
Same with a Fiesta I bought from Portsmouth, also back to Nottinghamshire. I only wanted to have the engine out of it when I got it back, but the rear hub bearings were shot, it had a bodykit on it that started detaching itself on the M40 at certain speeds, the sunroof leaked and it was raining.
Despite all that, they were still fun trips
(ETA - I always wanted a Maestro van in white, from about aged 5 I really really thought they were brilliant. And I used to practice driving it with a dinner plate as a steering wheel)

I would have liked an E36 325i/328i manual saloon, (preferably in SE trim) but they all seem to have died out or have been turned into drift slags or just completely barried
So true, I feel the same. I imagine the E46 will go that way soon...
