Current course of action regarding parking tickets?
Discussion
Apologies for posting in this section. As a new member, I am required to wait 14days to make a thread in the SP&L section, but wasn't really wanting to wait that long to seek advice from the decent folks of pistonheads. I understand if the mods delete this for the reason given above, although I hope they don't. Unless they have the power to move it to the SP&L section?
I am aware there have been some court cases regarding private parking tickets and wondered if anybody knew the most recent outcome of them and if any precedent was set? A lot of people say just ignore tickets(invoices), but a lot of people say use POPLA.
A Parking Eye ticket (including picture of the car) found its way to me today and needless to say their invoice is an absurd amount. The car park wasn't full so it's not like they lost any income as a result of me overstaying. Does this hold any weight in my favour? If a challenge is made, could I say "well I'll pay you the amount by which I overstayed?"
The reason for me asking this is because I've read Parking Eye seem to be the one company that take people to court. Trust me to pick their car park!!
Just out of interest, what's to say the time stamp on the picture of the car is correct? Their camera could be 30mins fast for example to catch people out.
Any help from you folks would be greatly appreciated!
Kind regards,
Kyle.
