25K Budget depreciation proof daily drive ??
Discussion
Got 25K to spend, no need for back seats. Daily drive 50mile round trip to work
Currently considering 997.1 2S after previously owning a 996. Find it hard to have to run the risk of potential serious engine failure / bore scoring with a car for this price. Or have I read too many scare posts?
Anything out there depreciation proof at this price?
What else should I consider? E90 M3? RS4 Avant? E46 CS?
Thought I had decided on the 997 but now not so sure.....

How many miles pa? Not sure there is a zero depreciation car that you can use daily is there? Especially if you factor in maintenance. Purely looking at what you buy and sell it for is a little short sighted.
I think the most economical (factoring every cost into account) and for sheer thrills is an Elise. Pretty much the perfect all rounder if you don't need 4 seats.

Buy the tidiest Z4MC you can for the money.
Jay Kay's old one, only done 4k miles: (bit of haggling required to get in budget)http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
I bought my z4 from the dealer who supplied this car to jay kay, he was also the owner of a lovely imola red z4m (his personal car) we were chatting about these going potentially up in value and he was making the point of how hard it is to find a decent one due to low circulation etc etc

996 turbo is the correct answer, but be quick!
Only problem is if you are used to a Lotus, a 996 Turbo will be a bit lacking. And expensive. An E90 M3 or an E39 M5 could be interesting & practical..
I use my Evora as a daily driver doing 15-20k miles per year.
Cost used for a non supercharged car is about £30-33k depending on spec. Mileage seems to have a small impact on price, probably because they are quite scarce.
Evora would be a good call (I am biased), but if you fancy Porsche or Aston you will probably need a budget of £35k to get a 997 gen 2 or a decent v8 vantage.
Aston is costly to run compared to Porsche and Lotus.
Maser Grantourismo is interesting but costs more tio run than an Aston
