Went to the the members videos area here - http://www.pistonheads.com/tv/tag/members-videos

Started watcing a video, but was forced to watch a 20sec ad for MANGO women's clothing.

Want to watch the video again? Yep, need to watch the ad again.

Want to watch another video? Same ad.

banghead

No more vidoes for me. Pistonheads, you are taking the piss.

EDIT: This is NOT website feedback! I am directing this post for discussion among members - hence the title.

Yes, same for me. When I couldn't "skip" the ad I closed the window. So I haven't seen any of them yet.

Explain how that works on videos?

A re-think is needed on where these videos are hosted. I get that Haymarket wants to earn money and completely respect that, but hosting 480p videos with mandatory 20 second adverts isn't how it's done in 2015. Use a service that goes up to 1440p/4k and slap (skippable - if I'm hunting for the skip button I have no interest in the content) adverts on that. Slightly less ad revenue but less hosting fees, and a modern number of pixels on screen to boot.

+1, I don't know either but I'm glad it does or I just couldn't be arsed with it all. I know Ghostery is an anti-tracker but it also seems to clear up a fkload of nonsense that clutters up this site and makes it a fkload faster too.
Interesting. 4 lots of analytics for PH!?

FWIW the reason I installed AdBlock was because one of PHer's ads was basically photos of 4x4s and kept coming up. If it had been nice looking cars, I would not have bothered with AdBlock. ("But I like 4x4s." "I couldn't give a st.")

I sat through an advert to watch a bit of the Lancia Stratos one, but it was st so I didn't get to the end.
Crap pixel quality, a dot in the distance which appartanly was a Stratos and the audio was of the people in the car filming. Great...

I've never clicked on any again. I figure that my basic YouTube search skills can do just as good / a better job if I want to watch car videos.

I run an ad blocker bit I'm going to turn it off as the adverts sound miles better than the st that is being uploaded.

Good ideasmile The one involving a set of foot pedals in a lotus operated by a naked man wearing only a nice pair of black brogues is particularly odd!

There was a weird video of a guy that owned a chim, I thought I'll have a look. One long advert and a 60 second video, seemed utterly pointless.

As with everyone else I can't be bothered watching them due to the adverts. Some other sites do this but they have the sense to only do it on the first video and provided you play the next videos from the same page it doesn't show more adds that day.

Is it not just easier to put a sponsor logo in the corner of the video somewhere? I say that with some dread though given PH advertising which would typically not just be a small top corner but instead be roughly 80% of the viewable screen, with it's own music.

Total and utter waste of time. If the ads can't be binned/skipped then don't bother.
