Will the 2.0 turbo z20let/leh engine be as iconic as the redtop 2.0 xe?
And is it related in anyway?, Do love the noise of a vxr! and they sure are powerful...

Iconic to who exactly? As far as 2 litres go it's not the first, second or third that springs to mind as iconic!

The 2.0 xe is known as a great engine...

I hope it is. I've never seen anyone use "Vauxhall"/"Opel" and "iconic" in one sentence. Maybe except Calibra, and possibly the Holdens but they ain't Vauxhall/Opel which by definition are bland as fukk.

No.

The C20XE was great but flawed - porous cylinder heads

It's a 2 litre, 4 cylinder turbo. It's not innovative, unusual, doesn't sound any better or worse than any of it's competitor engines and isn't especially powerful. Another completely average engine to be consigned to the forgotten engines list once a new one is built to replace it.

Hm. C20XE, Dr Fritz Indra and iconic -- I think that works together quite well, even with Opel attached. The guy is a genius and I would have thought the XE gets the credit it deserves round here? Masterpiece! The porosity issue isn't a design flaw, just the usual accountant induced fk up. To be fair, GM were, as usual, on the brink of bankruptcy back then.

I'm glad you've realised there's absolutely nothing iconic about Vauxhall/Opel

Brilliant the best example of an iconic Vauxhall/Opel you could come up with, is not a Vauxhall/Opel

The Z20 was a turd. Everyone I know who had one had endless trouble with it.

You've been here long enough now. You're not meant to like Vauxhall products. Keep up.

nothing iconic about any of those engines.

I struggle to feel any emotion towards an inline 4 at all.

The only inline 4 that's iconic imo is the B2XXX range from Saab, with no hardware mods apart from more fuelling and a larger turbo/exhaust you can get a reliable 500bhp even from the stock 154bhp engines!

I always thought that about Vauxhalls being bland and boring.

I think Astra VXRs are a great car to drive, fun and handle fairly well.

I would certainly not describe the car as iconic though.
