I have a Nissan Micra Profile Auto 1.0 1999 model and it doesn't come with a 12v socket. There is however an area / slot where one could be fitted. I have attached a picture of a 12v socket I have bought. Where would I be able to find the correct wires to attach to the 12v socket?

Would be great for your help, thanks.

If you're only planning to use it to charge stuff rather than as a fag lighter then then radio wiring is probably easiest, as you can pop the radio out to get at it without dismantling the entire dash. Most radios will have a permanent live (for the clock) and a switched live (for the radio) so you can pick which one you want.

However regardless of how you fit it get yourself an inline fuse holder (only a couple of quid from halfords) and put in an appropriately sized fuse, probably about 1 or 1.5A (that'll give 12-18W, even a high power iPad charger only uses 10W). You don't want someone plugging in something too powerful and melting the wiring.

Looks like Op's kit has an inline fuse to me? Should be good to go...

I'd probably look at the ignition live off the steering column, the reason being it'll take a higher load. Whenever I've changed out a fag lighter fuse it's been 10A and above. I'm not sure I'd want to pull that from the radio wiring loom

Are there any companies that would do this for me?

you can do it yourself easy enough, for the dirty method buy some scotchlocks from halfords. Be up and running in under 5 minutes

An auto electrician (search Yell or somewhere) could do it, they'd charge you a bit more and probably make it a bit tidier

Is a chance the wiring is already in place in the dash

Go where??

Mine's another vote for the radio circuit so long as the socket's use will only be for low current devices. i.e. TomTom, phone charger etc.

Yea on some micras there is wiring allready behind the dash but not had a proper look yet. Yes I would only use it for charging a phone / sat nav.
