I know that there are a number of specialist low number cars still produced without power steering. But what were the last 'normal' cars being sold without power steering?

Interesting one, don't know but my guess would be a late model still in production when most had it, would have to e small and light too...

Peugeot 106 or rover 100 would be my guess....

My Mum had a P reg Fiesta Diesel which was non PAS, so there's bound to be more obscure ones out there is Ford were still doing it then.

Yeah they did do a non pas KA. But don't know when they stopped doing them. My wife had a '02 and it had pas. But don't know whether it was optional when new?

The Lotus Elise doesn't have, and doesn't need, power steering.

I would say that must be the most recent 'normal' car without it.

Yup. Not a rare option either, I've had the good fortune to see several.

Its base model Pure, keep fit windows too, same as my Defender. My base model Dacia Duster is most luxurious with electric windows ( on the front only, lets not get carried away) sorry to go off topic

The Smart 451, made until 2015 (or very end of 2014) was offered without power steering as standard. It was an optional extra.

Every smart car made BEFORE 2015, (the latest 2015 model has it as standard), had power steering offered as a paid-for extra. The ONLY special edition model that DID have pas as standard was a "BOXFRESH". Many adverts claim to have pas, but it is just very wishful thinking......
As the smart was designed in the first place with fuel economy it's priority - fitting anything that involved additional weight was discounted. No height adjustable seats, narrower front tyres over the rears etc.

The 451 actually needs power steering for low speed manoeuvring but it's almost impossible to find one and retrofit is expensive.

2015 was the last of the 451's so I suspect that is the last car.

Does this count? Not really a car or normal but anyway, no PAS.. (or assisted brakes)
