Spectating at the Nurburgring; best place to stand

Looking at a road trip next year across to France and Germany and was thinking of taking in the 'Ring on the way back; not to drive it but just to have a look and do a bit of spectating.

Any tips on where to stand, best time of day, any charges?

Any advice greatly received.

Adenau bridge would be a start , great viewing and right next to the town for lunch , fuel etc no charges to view

You need to pre-book the Ring Taxi rides. And they aren't cheap.

Another vote for "Do some bloody laps!" So long as you drive to YOUR limits and don't get carried away. You'll be fine. Would advise to keep an eye onyour mirrors and if possibly get your passenger(s) to keep a look out as well for faster stuff behind you.

I didn't book the Ring Taxi and managed to get something I liked more than the M5.

Well, knowing that and half-a-year queue back in 2007 (E60 M5 days!), I wrote them and pretended myself to be a motoring journo (the 'motoring' bit was kind of made up at that point) a few days before, and they kindly booked me for a warm-up lap, which was utterly and relentlessly bonkers. 'To warm ze carz up zo we will be sure zat everizing work gut' they said. Very nice species living in a dying environment, sadly.

A bloke asked me if he could jump in my passenger seat in the Cosworth.

I bet he was underwhelmed by my below average ability.

On the viewing topic,I like to watch at Bergwerk which is not an official viewing spot.

I casually walked up, with NO pre booking. Used the Nueburgring Ring taxi not the BMW Motorsport one.
I was on the track within 1 hour..
Cost was €225 for up to 3 passengers. 1 front / 2 rear. No Helmut needed.
