Want to swap my minivan for something a bit smaller and much more economical, getting 25mpg and unable to park pretty much anywhere just sucks... I do need it for my business as well where I have to transport large/bulky/long objects Hence I have the minivan which does good job at it.

But started to look at some youtube videos and pretty much every car has messed up the way how their rear seats fold, for 99% of the cars I think they don't fold completely flat and you can't recline the front passanger seat as well so you can't fit in even longer objects in it.
I have a Honda jazz as well which is perfect at this, however a bit too small, see this picture and you will see what kind of seating position I'm after-

I had an old rover 75 estate which also had seating like that and it was a mamooth at carrying large stuff but yet to see any estate today which has the same simple function to fold the rear seats completely flat and recline the passanger seat.[url]

Any Ideas?? I'm up for anything BUT French or Vauxhall or ford.

Škoda Superb estate with the variable boot floor (to make it perfectly level). Folding passenger seat is an optional extra. Job jobbed.

The Volvo V70, 2000-2007 mk2, with everything down.
I assume the later V70s do the same.

My XF Estate has a ski flap in the rear seat. If you fold down the centre arm rest there's a shoebox sized door behind that when opened lies flat on the boot floor. I used to carry survey kit around and it was great for carrying staffs and detail poles which are over 1.5m in length. If you've got stuff wider than that it has 60:40 split seats that I'm pretty sure fold flat.

I think E class estates have the ski flap & flat folding seats.

The ski flap isn't a standard feature on an XF, it's an optional extra.

Vauxhall Carlton Estate.

In the sales brochure that the previous owner gave me with mine, they mentioned you could fit a full size front door in the back,

I also used it for sleeping in sometimes - I could lie flat and I'm 6'5", and also the seat folded all the way if necessary.

Alternative - something like a Renault espace where you can take all the seats out and the front seats are 'captain chairs' and rotate around

As already mentioned, the Volvo V70 2000-2007 comes with a folding passenger seat as standard. Also, the rear seat bases can be easily removed, giving a completely flat floor.

Second vote for the Superb - I have one and as long as the headrests are in thier lowest position, you can lift up the seat squab and fold all seats flat.
Creates a mammoth space!

Agreed - the 1993-onwards Legacy/Outback have fully flat folding seats. Very capacious.

I own a Superb "Hatchloon" as my mate puts it, enormous boot on that and decent seat config, so the estate must be even more cavernous!

I'd have a look at the Mazda 6 hatchback. With the front seats pushed forward I could get a couple of double mattresses in the back so I suspect the 6 Estate is even bigger (I had a 2009 model)

It was bigger than the Jag XF Sportbrake that has replaced it.

I had a look at the superb before, and it looked like a real nice car but.. I checked some videos and the seats don't fold completely flat for them.. and since they don't fold flat you can't recline the passenger seat as well ( I'm looking for a 3-7years old car so can't spec my own and buy it new)
Not sure about the volvo, it looks like an old crab from 1995.
I think the New honda civic tourer has seats which fold completely down and also the front passanger seat can be folded down, but it's slightly out of my budget now since the model is like only 1 year old now.

My dad has 2015 skoda octavia which is rather large and nice, but the seats also don't fold down completely flat for it so the space is not so usable for the stuff I need it.

Quite a few current Skodas have the option of a flip-down passenger seat (as in, flips forwards like a rear seat) for long stuff.

I didn't know that.

Does the new BINI Maxi do that?

I don't think BMW build a Maxi do they? It wouldn't have the same marketing potential as the Mini. I think the Maxi was smaller than the Bini in every dimension other than length.

Coincidentally, I am currently looking for exactly the same thing. Rear seats that fold completely flat (I often need to carry framed pictures, which need a flat surface) and a folding passenger seat for long stuff.

Honda Civic Tourer - rear seats fold flat, but front passenger seat does not fold down. However, the Jazz and HR-V do have this feature.

MINI - they just brought out a new MINI Clubman which is the largest MINI on sale. Based on the BMW 2-series. But the front seats do not fold down. And the rear seats fold down but not completely flat.

I know you said nothing French, but the Citroen Picasso fits the bill, and is well worth a look IMHO.
