If I were to travel in reverse everywhere in my car, could it be classed as clocking?

You'd also crash a lot so probably not worth it.

When I first saw a Daf Variomatic a few years ago, I thought "With that stepless transmission I bet they could go as fast backwards as forwards, I wonder if anyone has raced them in reverse".

I finally have an answer - great find, thankyou.

A friend's MR2 got stuck in reverse gear.
He drove it home.
Honestly it really wasn't me.
No really, honestly, it wasn't.

You would probably get a few, 'What a clock!' comments.

my old e28 auto broke down about a mile from my house once. issue with the gearbox meaning it would only select reverse. i walked home and went back for it at 2am.....

It would be smarter to just put the driving wheels up on stands. You just need to avoid doing it near large windows.

Years ago I had a 309 Gti auto and the gearbox started to fail so I parked it up and called round a few garages to find someone who could fit a 2nd hand or recon gearbox.

A few days later I tried to drive it to the garage ( less than 5 miles ) but after less than a mile and some terrible Graunching noise it lost all forward gears - luckily reverse still worked and I made my way across west London in reverse ! Luckily it was early morning on a weekend so the traffic was quiet but it was not easy eg roundabouts 😬

FLOL at the video. The Dutch commentary makes it.
