I dont here this car talked about a lot.

Is there is a reason, is it just not that good of a drive?

I had a renault twingo 133 before. Would it feel quicker than this?

It would probably feel marginally quicker than the Twingo, but not much.

Personally I don't understand why they're so highly prized. The handling wasn't that special, the engine wasn't special, the looks aren't anything to write home about.

In every respect there are better cars out there for the same money, but it's a quick Ford thing I think!

I think it's more of a sensible warm hatch than a proper hot hatch. Slower and not as much fun as the Clio 172/182 or MINI Cooper S, but simple to maintain and should be reliable.

I did look at these a while back despite hating the driving position of most Fords.

Besides it being an ugly thing I couldn't get past the engine. 150bhp from a 2.0? I'd go with a Type R, Colt Ralliart or Clio 197 instead.

I had one for a bit, it was OK but nothing to get excited about performance wise, there are many faster cars in that category.

I swapped CDs in it for about 6 months before someone pointed out it had a 6 CD changer in the dash. Cool story eh?

Nooe ever seems to rave over them like the swift sport, st170 or other warm hatches

I wonder what it would be like with the mountune package taking it to 190

I think it would be like the standard car, but with 40 more horsepower. wink

Do Mountune do a 190 pack for the ST150?

They offer a 165 and 185 that I've seen - http://www.mountune.com/index.php/services/perform...

Expensive though, you might as well throw the extra £2K+ at a "proper hot hatch" that already has 200bhp to start with...

They're cheap that's for sure. In Autotrader bang in search criteria of Petrol, Cars under 10 years old, 0-60mph of 0-8 seconds and these old STs usually litter up the lowest price point. With that in mind they maybe should be discussed more.

I suppose they're at the hotter end of the warm hatch scale rather than properly hot. Your Twingo 133 probably feels more perky to drive, presumably it weighs a good bit less than the Fez

As I quite like perusing the cheaper end of the car market using the search criteria above, you should find a comparitavely aged190bhp Celica or Corolla T-sport for less/similar dollar.... unless you're looking at a later ST of course.

s_m you are a mine of scanned information. I don't suppose you have those stats for the Yaris T-sport 1.5 do you?

I'd agree with you - in this segment it's the Clios and Swift Sports that get talked about most. Never noticed much 'noise' re the ST150s

I've had a ST150. I liked it at the time and although the performance wasnt earth shattering, I thought the handling was good (although mine was lowered on Eibachs). I sold it though as I fancied a change and bought a mint phase 2 Clio 172. The Clio was a revelation and light years ahead of the ST150 in terms of performance, handling, and overall fun. The Clio even did 37mpg on my commute compared to 28mpg on the Fiesta which given the greater performance of the Clio was bonkers.

So my advice would be to find a low mileage, well looked after Clio 182 and enjoy smile

When people complain about the build quality of the 182 do they mean inside te car or mechanically

I've always liked the look of them but, given the relative lack of power, they'd need a bit of tweaking.

Very much a warm hatch.

Because the Clio 1*2 is just so much better.
