Was driving my S2000 yesterday, going through Thornbury (Bristol) when i was sure the police car behind was following me, so i pulled into Tesco, when said police car followed.

I then did 2 laps of the car park, just to be sure, and was deffinatly following me, so pulled into a parking spot to see what the matter was, and he just drove off??

So rather puzzled carried on my way.

It was one of those Fugly ford fake SUV things.

Anyway, just checked all my docs just to be sure, and looks like the MOT ran out in march!, so will get that sorted this week.

So i guess i pinged his ANPR, but why would he not stop/speak to me? Or will he just send a fine in the post?

Or do they not really care about MOT, and was just checking everything else out?

Perhaps they were checking other things, but then got a more important call.

At least it meant you can get legal again without a telling off or worse!

As you say mate, probably pinged their ANPR then they more than likely had a call to attend something more urgent...

were these laps er......Donuts?

Probably got a more important call than following your car.

Might have mistaken it as someone naughty and local, but you turned out not to be them.

iv had what i presume was some sort of police officer follow me through 2 traffic islands and 1 set of lights ( not straight on ) into morrisons car park, stop behind me for a few seconds then drive off. i presumed he thought my reg number might be iffy, and then when checked he drove off.( probably disapointed ).

I suspect that it is a slow day when a lapsed MOT ANPR hit brings about a stop. Id guess that it drew you to their attention and that they were simply seeing how you reacted. By stopping you demonstrated that you weren't likely to be of interest to them.

Maybe they thought you were suspicious doing two laps of a Tesco car park but when you stopped they realised you were legit ?

I was once followed by a traffic car around 13 miles along dual carriageways and motorway (from East Kilbride all the way to Airdrie, if anyone knows it).

It was just before midnight on a wet Saturday night and I noticed a car (the roads were very quiet) sticking with me through various roundabouts, lane changes, etc. I wasn't in a rush so was hovering 5mph or so below the limit yet they wouldn't overtake. Only after said distance I turned off onto a minor road and saw the battenburg markings - must have been bored or something, waiting on me doing something.

Silver is chalking the cue, before the next colour.

If you're driving with no M.O.T isn't your insurance invalid?
