Power upgrade announced for Zenos E10S

More than 280hp and 300lb ft now available on the mid-range Zenos

We're big fans of Zenos at PH, both in terms of the innovative concept and the thrilling cars it has so far produced. Now the appeal is set to broaden further with the introduction of a power upgrade to the E10 S.

So when can we have a go in the faster one?

Sat between the 200hp E10 and 350hp E10 R, the 250hp S is currently proving to be Zenos's most popular model. The power kit for the S comprises a new air intake, an upgraded intercooler and an ECU remap for the 2.0-litre Ecoboost engine. Claimed figures from are 284hp (280bhp) and 309lb ft (420Nm), up from 253hp (250bhp) and 295lb ft (400Nm) in the standard E10 S. Modest gains reflecting the relatively minor modifications but, proportionally, likely to add up to a significant increase in performance in a car as light as the Zenos.

That new power figure is produced at 6,500rpm, 500rpm less than in the E10 S. As for the torque, Zenos says it's available "over a wide range of engine speeds." Performance claims haven't yet been issued, but expect the power kitted car to improve slightly on the 145mph and four seconds to 60mph of the standard S.

The upgrade is available now as a £1,995 option (including VAT but excluding fitting) on the E10 S, taking the overall price to £34,990. It can be retrofitted to used cars also, with the warranty unaffected, but Zenos recommends running 97RON fuel once the work has been done.

My brother has one and it's mighty quick as it is now. Everyone likes more power but I think it would be wise to see how that extra power affects the car handling if at all.
At least it cheaper than retro fitting the windscreen.

This was to be expected. The motor in the E10S was in a fairly soft state of tune. The same EcoBoost engine is producing more power in some of the other trackday specials. Now that the company is getting into it's stride, it's time to start pushing the envelope.

I've got one of the few normally aspirated cars, and eking out more than the current 200bhp might not be so easy. But I'm waiting with fingers crossed.

As a E10R owner the chassis is more than able to cope with the increase in power. Granted, the R has a different spring setup but even then the underlying package is bloody good.

I had an early E10S which was great but decided to upgrade to the E10R - didn't cost much more than upgrading my E10S to current spec thanks to a generous trade in deal ffered by Zenos. I get the R in a couple of weeks time. Can't wait!
