Hey,

So you may remember me with what car to buy and I managed to get a multi car and brought me a mk1 mx5 biggrin. great car, great fun however looking at modding it already only slight things for now, Just wanted to know if anyone has used hastings and what they where like on modifications.

I have a Nardi and boss kit lying around I used it on my simulation rig before but might aswell stick it in the mx5 more than likely going to declare it although I can't see it changing much as the car I have mx5 dakar comes with a momo wheel with no airbag in it any way. It's just a little too big for my liking so going with the 350mm.

Next I was just wondering as daft as it does sound do you really have to declare a gear knob change? was going to get that.

But the main thing I'm concerned about next year if i go for a hard dog roll bar which i do want to do, you'd think safety wouldn't you and either free or give you a discount I doubt this will be the case though lol I'm guessing.

That's it for now in future and if funds allow probably go.

Seats

Harness maybe

suspension

Brakes

As i will be tracking the car next year hopefully smile

Most of the insurers you can just say "internal decorative mods" - unless you're removing airbags, they don't tend to get worried.

Just phone them and ask.

S and V specs had Nardi wheels as OE anyway, so it's hardly a significant mod.

I had Manufacturer wheels (they differenciate manufacturer wheels from aftermarket for some reason) on my last car through them and they didnt put my premium up (Impreza STI wheels on a Forester).

How are you getting on with hastings? I was thinking about declaring my mods (also an mx5-mk1):

Lowered
New steering wheel
New door cards
New wheels
Welded diff
bucket seat
racing harness
Gear stick
drilled airbox
stereo

But if my insurance is going to double I will just chance it. Cant afford it at 22 years old on minimum wage already paying 1065GBP for my insurance

Shouldn't have been a *** and modded a car you couldn't afford to insurance afterward
I'd probably expect at lest a few £100 notes for all the mods
