Broken rear bumper

My friend reversed into a small stone wall which has dented and cracked the rear bumper as you can see in pictures.
His car is on a lease and he is wondering on the best/cheapest plan of action.
Going through insurance would cost £500 excess, loss of NCB and increased premium next year.
New bumper would cost? 100? 200? + labour?
What's the best way of getting it sorted? If he contacts a local bodyshop, would they source and order a rear bumper for him, fit it and paint if needed or is he better of sourcing the bumper himself and supplying it to a bodyshop?

Yeah that would be the cheapest way probably but as you can see in the 2nd and 3rd picture the bumper is actually cracked on the side so it's not just the case of pushing out the dent and paint, I think.cj2013 said:

It's Astra K, I have had a look on ebay and could probably find out for £200, how much would labour and paint cost?I would say that you'd be lucky to get a genuine new bumper, painted, for less than £400. Probably more.

If no metal fittings are bent & holding the dent in then very likely a session with an infrared lamp(s) to heat the plastic up will allow it to be pushed back to shape to lose the dent.
Dependent on the plastic the split should weld back together.
Sand to remove all damaged paint, fill & paint as required.
Can't give an idea as to cost, you'll need to speak to those who you are thinking of using so they can have a look at it & see if they'll take it on.

I had almost the same on my last car. Reversed into a very slim tree that was exactly in a blind spot behind the left corner of the car. The bumper didn't crack just bent inward and the paing cracked a little. Did the boiling water thing, pushed it from the inside and the bumper reverted to its original shape. Barely noticeable after. The car was quite cheap and I bought it to build insurance NCB as it was my first car in the UK so I didn't care about the little scratch left behind. When I sold it the lady who bought it didn't even mentioned it...ANJ91 said:

It's annoying it's cracked. if it was only dented much easier to repair.
I went to see few local bodyshops and they all said it needs a new bumper.
There aren't that many bumpers for sale because it's a new model but I have seen some from £100 to £150.
Once I have the bumper I got quoted about £200 for a respray and fit.

That does seem the case. I will try few more places.If I was going to buy a replacement bumper, I was looking on ebay and gumtree.

ks.A bodyshop will make 70+% from labour but only 5-35% on parts (Labour rate, Staff Rate, Vehicle Manufacturer and bodyshop size depending).
Both repairs will cost a similar amount.... So I'll let you do the maths and ask if you still 'think' most high street type bodshops just want to fit new parts and send them on their way....
