Christmas has got me wondering if anybody has been given a car as a Christmas present? If so, what was it?

Or have you given someone else a car as a present?

Cars you've given yourself as a present don't count!

Yup, last month I gave away my old V70 T5 to some friends. I was looking to get shut, they expressed an interest, off it went.

Last year, I gave Mrs B. this as her mumble mumble birthday present. It took 18 months to strip down and rebuild. We did it totally in secret, she never suspected a thing, and we finished it the day before her birthday.

Yes, yes but how long did it take to strip down the car?

A few years ago a pal of mine used my garage to hide a brand new X5 , he came for it about 10.00 on Christmas morning.

His wife never got wind of it.

My sister got a new car as a combined birthday/Christmas gift (her birthday is a few days before Christmas).

I once found myself lusting after a car but was just over £1100 short in savings to buy it. Christmas was two days later and the envelope my parents handed me had a cheque for the exact figure (£1162 or something) I needed to buy the car.

A renault Captur, so not special to most but he's wanted one for a while and has his 10 year old Megane for a bit now so deserves an upgrade.

Years ago bought my wife a car for her birthday. It was the first brand new car either of us had owned. The DP was my brother-in-law so let me keep it at the dealership until the night before and I went and got it around midnight, taking SWMBO's old car as a part-ex. Tied a piece of string to the door handle and trailed it all through the house for her to follow in the morning with a note tied to the end saying 'follow me'.

We ended up going for a spin at stupid o'clock in the morning in our pajamas and dressing gowns. She was too excited to get dressed properly before taking it out!

A mate of mine sorted a new car for his wife as a suprise xmas present,

the garage had been clued up to deliver it a day or so early on a day she would be out, storage was sorted,

problem was they rang her on the house phone the day before "just to make sure it was still ok"

Thinking about it yes, I bought a convertible for her Xmas/40th birthday, left it as a mates till the 24th.
