I am wanting to tick off the evo triangle but would like to take my wife and daughter(will be almost 4). My mate may be coming with his wife and 3 and 4 year old.

Is there somewhere to stay that means the better halves and nippers won't be bored for half a day while me and my mate nip off for a blast around the roads?

What about leaving them in Chester for the day? It's not a million miles away, and lots of stuff to do there

That may well work.

Any nice country hotel recommendations?

Not lived in the North West for a few years, but I always liked the Grosvenor in the centre of Chester. However it's on the doorstep of Wales and Shropshire so others will probably be able to advise of nice country hotels around there

Carden Park is nice. Bit isolated though.

At Lake Brennig there is actually a pretty good cafe / visitors centre and trails to walk. Might be a little bleak but I've done it. And you are right on the triangle. Depends how much time you want but you can easily spend a couple of hours there as a playground etc.

I plan on doing the Evo triangle with my family on the way back from Ireland on Tuesday. Or I might be too tired and do it another day.

The advantage with this suggestion is you can ignore the evo triangle and instead jump onto one of the best roads in the country - the B4391 from Ffestiniog to Llangynog.

Is Lynn Brennig part of the evo triangle now? Cafe is decent, and good for walks around the Lynn.
Doesn't everywhere have roads like this?

Would be much more fun in a sporty car.

Why do you have to be a dick? 3 lads getting out enjoying some excellent roads and your giving them grief?

Yes it would be more fun in 'something sporty' but unfortunatly a lot of us live in something called the real world and are not all powerfully built with an atom in the garage for the weekends.

Ooh touchy. My apologies, I didn't realise I'd touch a nerve so deep with a passing comment to enrage someone so much as to throw childish insults around on someone elses behalf.

Firstly I am not driving round the evo triangle.

Secondly if I was I wouldn't take the Volvo, I'd much rather take a fun car.

Other than the usual PH tendency to ruin a thread there is some useful info here. I'll do some digging and no doubt come back to this thread with questions and eventually pics and my thoughts. I hope those of you making the journey have a blast.

Shopping = Chester.
Fish and chips = Llandudno / Great Orme.
Scenery = Mount Snowdon / Snowdon Mountain Railway.

Yep, so the eastern side of the triangle runs between Lake Alwen and Brennig (both stages of the Wales Rally GB). And there are good (but long) walks around each. The coffee shop serves proper food but is slow. Love it up there. Proper mountain bike trails as well, and you can cycle the WRGB stages.

And if you are heading from Llangollen up there, the Rhug Farm Shop serves ace butties...

Sausage bacon and egg the best...
