So he ended up taking a £1300 loss on it, what a complete muppet.

A car round my way has the plate DR06 BAD (DROGBA D). I don't know if it was bought to sell to Didier who didn't want it, or if the driver is just a fan.

Perhaps he would have been better off trying to sell it to someone with the surname of Vargy.

Where does someone that monumentally stupid get £4K from and then have so little respect for that money they just throw it away without any logical thought at all?

Interesting, there are so many so called private plates that have been sold for crazy money that don't even look worth £100 to me! He took a gamble and it never paid off for him, it could have but never. I see no reason to ridicule him.

I agree, it does seem like a very odd thing to take a punt on though. Better odds from putting it on a red I should think!

Why sell it on so quick?
He could have put it on retention and played a waiting game for a decent offer to come in.

He paid £4K for a plate with the sole intention of selling it to one person. The one person he seems unable to contact yet somebody else managed to tweet Vardy's wife with a similar plate. Which she refused.

He also thinks it's worth £7.5K. Then why did the DVLA let him have it for only £4K, and why did it only make circa £2.5K on Ebay?

Plus this:

Clearly couldn't afford to have £4K tied up in a plate.

Plenty to ridicule there. biggrin

Lucky at that, I'd say.

Some people just love belittling others. It's the way of the world it seems.

There are some places which are quite pricey as said but you wouldn't think twice!

You don't think if this vardy bloke fancied a new plate he would google one himself that actually reads Vardy and not Vargy?

Because football...

...it seems to generate a fair bit of monumental stupidity

If there was good money to be made, one of large plate dealers would of bought it.

It wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't already contacted Vardy and found out he wasn't interested, hence letting the plate go to a public buyer.

I can't help but think this lad was barking up the wrong tree. I know of another Vardy who is partial to a private plate and has plenty of cars to put them on..

However, it does say Vargy.

Ha ha! Really? He spent thousands on something he was hoping to make a profit on with a potential market of basically one person. And he
didn't check if that one person actually wanted it first. Nice gamble!

I think I've seen that around if not very similar. Was it on a Range Rover by any chance?

Makes a trip to the roulette table look like a sensible option!
