I just has to share this because I was told last night and I have just finished laughing...

We have a friend who often like to say a lot about herself...you all know the sort. A little while back one she was so proud of her and her husbands new purchase. Showing off on Facebook all the usual.

So it went something like this last night.

Kate (My better half) "Dan, Nancy was talking to Sam at work today." Me "Oh right" Kate, "Yeah she asked her is she'd had a good time at her parents for Christmas" Seems fair enough so far. Sam - the "friend" "No we didn't go in the end. The car won't go as far as Reading it'll only get as far as Southampton"

Me: "Oh scensoredt yeah! She loved telling the world how proud she was of that BMW i3 too!"

We might drink fuel but at least we can complete a journey without having to find a charging point and stop for 7.5 hours hehe I said, if she ever had to go to Liverpool (We have friends who've moved there - So I've not just selected a random place), it'll take 3 overnight stops!

Quick charge stations can do it in under an hour. Lots of BMW garages have them too.

With the BMW i3, you can use both alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) public charging stations. This not only makes you more flexible, it also enables you to charge your vehicle as quickly as possible. At a DC public charging station, a constantly powerful current transfers the energy directly to the high-voltage battery, charging the BMW i3 to 80% capacity in less than 40 minutes. Using an AC Rapid station charges the BMW i3 to 80% capacity in under three hours, an AC Fast will do so in under four.

Correct. You don't count. It's official.

What the hell do you even mean?

Even if you were told just before midnight, that means you've been laughing for nearly 13.5 hours

I think it is the rural version the usual "I live on the 20th floor of a tower block so can't charge and EV. Furthermore because these are my personal circumstances they must extrapolate to everyone else in the country. Therefore EVs are doomed to fail."

I'd not be keen to have an EV as my only car for this reason. It's all very well saying 'oh but you can charge it to 80% in just 40 minutes'. 40 bloody minutes! And that's assuming the charge point is free when you get to it. The thought of having to hang around a god-forsaken service station for that length of time, even half that, every time I did a long journey - makes my skin crawl.

I'd have one for commuting/local journeys though.

Damn, I missed that, I thought they were still trying to work out how to do it or avoid it in a way that makes someone else responsible.

Isn't the EV thing a bit like deciding you cannot move house because you have a two seater sports car and the furniture won't fit in it? I.e. other short term solutions exist when the need arises.

If the rechargers were at NT properties, shopping centres, kart tracks, dry ski slopes, nice restaurants, pick your own attraction etc. would that help? smile

Max, save your breath. This is GG where every post gets a 'put down' by some moronic idiot. It's a sign of the times.

Neither could the OP's friends. So, he still wins.
