How do you store your car's history?

Paperwork, bills, receipts, some more paperwork, spec sheets, sales literature... depending on what you consider 'history' pertaining to your car it's easy to watch a mountain of paper stack up. I certainly have, but I know some of you have sprawling mountains of paperwork relating to your fleet. How do you store it? I know of online services like Patina but I'm thinking more about the actual paperwork than a digital paper trail.

Up until now I've been using two ring binders - one for each car - to file their histories away, but I am curious if there's a better way. What do you do?

O/T but that show really did fall off after they got locked up in Panama didn't it? I missed a season and they were in the midst of a government conspiracy or something.

Just a ringbinder and some plastic wallets. I lose most of it before I bother putting it in there though so it's just a couple of services and a cambelt right now.

I've started using A4 boxes from Ikea. A bit like large shoeboxes. I can keep paperwork, spare keys, security fobs and other odds and ends together.

In one of those A4-ish sized boxes with a kid with the crappy plastic clasps on. I think it has nearly everything in there including quotes for bits and pieces. Just about the only thing I don't keep are petrol receipts. I could insulate my house with the amount of paper I take from forecourts.

Bottom drawer of my computer desk in its original wallet, I very rarely look through the receipts that are stored in it. Hate seeing just how much money I've put into a shed.

Usually keep it in the car. I know you "shouldn't" in case the car is stolen, but tbh if the car is stolen the history is going to be of no real use to either me or the thieves. At least in the boot with mobility kit etc it doesn't go missing!

Mercedes hold it for me and let me view it once a year after spending several hundred pounds with them

Ring Binder....... I even have receipts for my Air Fresheners.

Box files, two for each car. One contains the 'legal' stuff like insurance, MOT certificates and registration documents; the other has receipts and other paperwork.

That's where all my really vital stuff is when I need it! In between it goes in a box file from which I periodically clear out 2-3 years worth of insurance documents, car tax emails and the like.

I have a ring binder folder that came with the car containing all of it's history up until I purchased it. I've just continued to add to it, as well as starting an excel spreadsheet detailing my costs.

These things, box files, one for each car. You can get plastic sleeves for loose papers and the snap spring keeps it all together.
