Is anyone planning a run from Middlesbrough/Stockton down to Nottingham this afternoon?

A mate with a severely disabled 5 year old is currently stuck on Mallorca after a medical mishap compounded by insurance company uselessness.

The little girl is tube fed on a specialist formula milk (a peptide feed for those in the know), specialised enough that they can't find more on the island, and the supply they had brought with is running out due to the extended stay.

The tube feeding community has sourced enough to get them through - should be coming home on Saturday now - but we need to get a box of this feed from the person with spare in Stockton down to Parcelforce's main depot in Nottingham by 7 tonight to have it reach them before they run out.

So. Is anyone heading down, or is anyone willing to do the run in exchange for petrol money, massive gratitude and serious kudos?

Do you have a local blood bikes group? This is the kind of thing they do.

Peptide 1.5 kcal/ml - either paediasure peptide 1.5 or nutrini peptisorb energy 1.5. Alas it's one of the really fiddly specialised ones - hard to come by anywhere without a decent runup for ordering time etc. They took almost a week's worth extra with just in case, but there are no flights out til Saturday - rotten luck.

Sorry, you are right. We've not got that specialist yet. Here's another bump.

And an offer:- I'm in leicester. If you get it part of the way (Sheffield ish) from someone. I'll meet them at the services somewhere and get it to Notts. I'm figuring at 4:20, that's about as far as I can go and still make it back for 7

I'm manchester based, there is a blood bikes group in the NE but their page is covered in 'we only deal with the authorities' type stuff - tried the number but didn't get through to anyone.

Have the airline or insurance company offered to help get it there? You'd think they could arrange to have it accepted free as freight with someone if not themselves. edit: I appreciate you seem to have something sorted but in theory somebody could drop it off at an airport and it could be there almost immediately (paperwork aside...).

A quick check shows that Paediasure peptide 1.5 is supplied by Abbotts Nutrition. I've spoken to them and whilst they are unable to ship stuff direct to people, they did give me the number for their Spanish affiliate Abbotts in Madrid: +34 901 10 09 05.

If the run doesn't make it in time (and unless it is now en route, I don't think it will...), then perhaps they could call the Madrid office to see whether there are any suppliers/stockists in Mallorca and/or arrange for some to be shipped?

I'm assuming that they have checked with the local hospitals?

If you've not found someone by tonight (and I know that's theoretically too late), I live near Nottingham and am happy to make the return trip in return for fuel money! But wouldn't be able to leave until 11pm tonight to get upto you.

Might be easier to find someone flying to Mallorca on holiday rather than shipping via Parcelforce, although questions about transporting goods for someone else and verification of the contents may be tricky.

ETA:

EasyJet Newcastle to PMI: 06:00 arrives 09:50
Jet2 PMI to Newcastle: 14:05 arrives 16:10

£303 though
