Got circa 200 litres of diesel that I drew off almost exactly one year ago - should I think twice about using it? It's to be used in a 2l Ford (2004) TDCi engine if that makes any odds.

Might be worthwhile mixing it 50/50 with some fresh to avoid any problems

Don't be daft, it's diesel! As long as it's not contaminated, it'll be fine for several years.

So would I.

If in any doubt put in half a tank and top up rest at the garage until all used.

I would only filter it, prevent car filter from being clogged. I have had what was probably bacterial growth lining the insides of jerrycans where I had stored diesel for probably a lot longer than 1 year, and it flakes off when you move the jerrycan. Well, just pour it gently and keep a lookout for any bits, filter it if you start to see any.

Yep - there are some kind of "mites" that can live in diesel, which is quite astonishing, really.

True. But perhaps we all need reminding that diesel (and other fossil fuels) are 100% natural, organic, and GMO free smile

Ok so an update. I began pouring a barrel of the old fuel into the tank through a funnel with a mesh filter. The fuel flow through the funnel became very restricted and it became apparent there was a build-up of sludge in the funnels mesh barrier. Upon noticing this I stopped refuelling and brimmed the tank full of fresh fuel - the tank only received a quarter tank full of this old fuel.

Is it wise to dispose of the rest of this fuel or is possible to filter it?

I would still use it, just keep on filtering, and as a previous poster said - perhaps go 50/50 old/new.

100% natural before it's heavily processed and loads of very unnatural additives added.
