As per the title really.

Is there any way of checking where a car had its MOT test?

As said in a previous post, the MOT history website now gives tbe location where each MOT was carried out.

the DVSA MOT Check tells you where the MOT took place:

Does pistonheads have a FAQ section? The same topics come up every few weeks, if not days. If there is a FAQ section, can this be directed to before people submit?

It was only added as a feature sometime last week.

I overheard a couple of guys talking about where their old cars were - according to where they last had an MOT

My old cars are everywhere from Scotland to London, and Norfolk to Lancashire.

Wow that's a feature I have thought would be useful for years, at least to trace where a car has been.

I suspect garages will get annoyed because it'll probably cause an increase in phone calls...

... and they did, so that's why the feature was removed again.
Well
Now it's been put back again, provided you can enter the V5 number.
... which is a bit strange, because if you have that, then you probably have the MoT details already!

Why?
You're obviously not the present keeper so why would it be any concern of yours?

Hmm, new joiner, 1st post, name is Jon, asking about an Audi A8 where the last 3 digits of the personalised plate on it are JRW. What's the betting that he's trying track down the car so he can try to buy the plate because it matches his own initials? getmecoat

If not, seems a bit of an extreme to ask about the last MOT that was done in February 2017, that in itself expired in Feb '18. Since then it's not been MOT'd or taxed again and was declared SORN based on the info on Cazana & the .gov checker.

Looking far more likely that the new joiner is after the possible last location of the car, followed by a "please pass my details on if you know the owner / give me the last owners details you have" phone call to try and buy the plate tbh. Which is one of the reasons the MOT location service got pulled.

Exact a mon-do .... well almost.
I’ve been a Pistonheads user for many many years but never posted on the forum.
I googled the question and bingo, there it was that the topic had already been discussed and open on this forum.
It’s a total shame that an Audi that’s done over 275K miles, and now SORN, which has a great plate goes to the grave without a fight.
I’d like the plate and indeed would pay a few quid for it... so why not try ....
Imagine..... having an R8 and also having an R8 with your initials on the plate.
It’s a no brainier ......
I’m in no way trying to upset anyone .... if anything quite the opposite..... I’d like to give the owner of a car that’s possibly rusting away in their front garden a few hundred quid.

Doesn't the vehicle you're transferring from require an MOT anyway?

Presumably this SORN 275k car will have difficulty here? Although I suppose anything is possible wink
