Just got and tried for the first time a new bike carrier for the car.

Rids the need for roof bars by relying on suction power. 60 secs to fit, good to hold a £7k bike at speeds beyond legal.

Nice neat solution, though I think I'd rather see the roof suction cups placed further apart. How rigid is it to lateral forces? Will an enthusiastically taken left/right put a pedal through the rear screen?

Lovely bike and car combination!

A bloke parked next to me at a Crit in the summer with his bike on the roof of an AMG Mercedes using these.

I suppose they do work but I’d always be looking in my mirror to check for a trail of carbon fibre down the road from me.

I've had a set of these for a couple of years (but don't use them that much) ... good kit.

So far pretty good, the biggest issue is roof flex (despite carbon roof....?) - the bracket and bike is rock solid - the peddles are anchored with a velcro strap!

First few miles I was doing the same - but a friend has used his at over 80mph for 200 miles!

Also a video circulating with one stuck to a NASCAR running at 200mph!

Looks neat, do you fix the pedals in place?
Could the pedal be blown round backwards so that it touches the rear screen?

I was riding out to start an open ten to find a guy extracting his full TT setup from inside a 997. It looked really awkward but did make me wish I got a stupider car rather than something good at transporting bikes. These looks especially good now so maybe next time I change car...

Looks really good. I considered this product but was put off there's no way of securing them to the car so easy to steal the bikes while the car is parked.

I went for a BMW retractable tow bar which takes a bike rack.

The pedal looks perilously close to the rear screen!

+1

Any issues with the suckers marking the paint? guess you have to make sure the area is nice and clean before you get your suction on.

My biggest concern would be marking the paint. Unless absolutely spotless, both the pad face and the panel there is a real chance it will create marring.

Also depending on the bonded strengthening bars underneath the panel skin there's a real chance of dents/undulations appearing.

I acknowledge my anxiety on this would be beyond the norm it's something that I would stress about.

I'd rather buy an old smoker estate purely for transporting bikes.

Simple velcro strap to hold the pedals in place.

There is....I have it. Simple bracket that hooks inside boot lid or window (or both) and allows a cable to be looped through the frame & wheels.
