A 50% surcharge isn't double.

Blatant profiteering on the back of this so-called diesel scandal.
About what you'd expect of these car parking type of companies though.

Westminster council came up with this D-Charge back in June as a trial on a few streets. It's clearly just there to make more money.

Most boroughs have been charging diesels extra for street parking/parking permits for the last 5 years or so.

Forgive my ignorance but a parked diesel car gives off exactly the same emissions as a petrol one, that being zero, so why is this nonsense being introduced?

£7.35 an hour, fk me sideways!

So you have to pay more to park even though while the car is parked it is not causing any pollution - unbelievable.

Take your TDi badges off and how will they know unless they pay the DVLA to check every car?

Is that a serious question?

I guess their parking app does a basic "my car check" type look up.
Available for free and unrestricted use :-(

Hmm, OK clearly some people really do have no idea how targeted taxation is used.

It makes no difference when the car is parked. It makes every difference when it is not. The reason for the "tax" (which is what it is) is to make it less financially viable for people to own a diesel car in London. It's nothing whatsoever do to with parking, except for that being a convenient point to collect it.

So by stating pre-2015 I expect they are trying to exclude anything which isn't euro 6 diesel....except Euro 6 came into effect in 2014 for a lot of cars, for instance my car is a 64 plate so built in the latter half of 2014 and it's Euro 6 compliant so do I pay the extra charge or not? As usual clear as mud.

Cos the car has to get to the parking space.

Is the higher price for new diesels with a further 50% surcharge for pre 2015 ones?

However as usual the public will just herrumph, and carry on being taken for a ride.

I wish we weren't so tolerant of all these rules put in place to control us frown
