I copied and pasted this from a publicity email about petrol prices.

The UK’s most steal-able vehicles

Is your car one of the UK’s most steal-able vehicles? These are the top ten makes and models of cars deemed most at risk of theft, following the study carried out by the German Automotive Club:

Audi: A3, A4, A6

BMW: 730d

Citroen: DS4 CrossBack

Ford: Galaxy, Eco-Sport

Honda: HR-V

Hyundai: Santa Fe CRDi

Kia: Optima

Lexus: RX 450h

Mazda: CX-5

Mini: Clubman

"The UK's top ten most stealable vehicles" - list of 13 vehicles which seems to bear a suspicious resemblance to the first half of this March 2016 list...
https://www.wired.com/2016/03/study-finds-24-car-m...

"Data released by ADAC" - so that'll be based on German stats, then?

Slow news day...

Here's a much more believable list, from the UK from September.

From experience that's probably the most accurate list.

I have a BMW and a Land Rover, thankfully neither models are the ones that are targeted!

I think mine is one of the safest as it requires a key to open and start it. No nicking it with a laptop.

Whoa! easy tiger, don’t shoot the messenger, I saw this and figured that as PH is populated with car lovers, someone could find it interesting.
Personally I only subscribe for the fun, jokey stuff on here, I’m about as interested in cars as I am in astro physics, I’m happy to sit in the back of my wife’s Peugeot, reading the paper, I was even happier when she had a large comfortable Fiat.
I rarely drive anything, and even then only with a gun to my head, bhing like crazy.
Lada or Lamborghini, they’re all the same to me, an extension of my right foot, something that I occasionally have to reluctantly get in and steer somewhere.

Don't worry - if any messenger should be shot, it's petrolprices, not you...

Some forces had directives to be mindful of certain models susceptive to theft, as such if seen being driven around late at night or in an unusual manner or location they have incentive to follow it.

SantaFe etc are a bit more under the radar.

Ford seems to be heavily targeted at the moment and model seems not to matter - Ecosport, CMax, Smax, Galaxy, Fiesta (not ST's, although they are a massive target) and anything RS. The last 2 are probably obvious, but the others definitely are not what you expect.

Do you have to have comfort access for these thefts to work or do they also work on push button key fobs too?

(didn't read it all I'm in a meeting biggrin)

Scrotes that want a beautifully designed, spacious, comfortable and practical 7 seater car, I would imagine...

I've got a bright yellow Chevrolet Matiz and don't think I've removed the keys more than 3 or 4 times since buying it 18 months ago. Evidently it's not very high on that list. smile

I've got one on the list.
Fortunately the most steal-able and most attractive to thieves seem to be very different lists. hehe

Almost certainly nobody. The Wired article from last March, reporting ADAC's report, simply refers to 24 cars from 19 manufacturers which they tested and found to be vulnerable to the keyless-entry "repeater" thefts.
