Found this in my garage, a relic from a previous owner. Any ideas? Thought it might be Bristol Owners Club but nothing on google looks similar...

I think it might be an old logo for the industrial gas firm BOC (formerly British Oxygen Company).

Their logos are red on white these days but used to be white on red, and the white stripes would match the livery of their old lorries.

EDIT: Too slow for the super swift sleuths before me! biggrin

I used to put big 24inch decals on the doors of their new Bedford TMs when I was a lad. Had that same emblem (or very, very similar).

I see someone posted the image of the Bedford truck already but that's almost defo a badge off the front of a very old BOC delivery truck probably from the 1930s. BOC have a long history in the HGV industry and their old trucks are collectable. People go to great expense to restore trucks from the 50s and 60s.

I would hang onto that badge! Or try and find someone who has a need for it.

Small point, but this will not go back to the 30's as the company was not known as BOC untill 1969.

Was preciously known as British Oxygen Company but is now part of the Linde group but still trades as BOC.

That badge looks in very good condition and could be worth something to somebody looking for one for a restoration. Could it be a BOC car club badge? I know many large companies / organisations had clubs for employees back in the 70's and 80's.

I know the old chap who used to own the place was an engineer so it's possible he worked for BOC at some point.

The badge was in a plastic bag which I suspect it was delivered in, I don't think it's ever been fitted to a vehicle.

Vehicles carried "BOC" markings way before the 70s though. Defo in the 30s I have personally seen trucks at shows with "BOC" markings. That said not this exact logo more of a joined up BOC. If this logo is after 1970 then it may not be from a truck as most companies started to move away from bright work in the 70s and by the 80s it was black or white GRP / ABS all the way!
