I can't decide what to replace my 1993 BMW730V8 with. Nothing says 'buy me'.However, just to be different, there's an interesting limo I first saw in a TV ad a year or so ago for a bank. Very wide chrome grille - a Lincoln Continental I think. Tried to find some for sale in the UK but no luck. Has anyone got any more info on this breed?

We once rented a non-stretched version during a trip to the US, It handles like a fresh turd, has a turning circle greater than Jupiter's orbit of the sun, was speed-limited to 99mph(!) but you could easily stow at least a dozen asylum seekers in the boot

I had (for a short time) a 75 Licoln continental while working in the US. 9 litre engine, 9 miles to the gallon which dropped to about 5 with AC!
Bought it cause it was the biggest car on the planet!! It was OK for american roads, but felt like a half empty water bed round town. It had 'an amount' of torque!!! So much so that when I helped tow a bloke (who was also towing a jet ski, I felt as though nothing was attached.
Got rid when the brakes failed (yup, through red lights!!), but that's another story.

I've been trying one of those for the last six years! It now has 146,000 miles on the clock and I don't really like its replacement, still less the latest one with the silly silver knob and the boot from a Saab stuck on the back.
The picture above is a stretched version, which is not what I'm after. I found www.lincolnvehicles.com but there's no e-mail address and I can't order a brochure as it's US only! I'm sure the recent model can do more than 7 mpg and will be more European in handling....

Swerve the Continental!
If you really want a Lincoln (Ford with Leather) then try a Town Car, MKVIII or a little smaller but much nicer is the Lincoln LS.
As alternatives to the Town Car try the Mercury Grand Marquis or the Ford Crown something or other as they are all effectively the same car.

Interesting. I saw those on the website and wondered, but do they have leather and toys? I shall have to do that old-fashioned thing and WRITE to Dearborn MI for a brochure!

That's 4 less than unleaded isn't it? 95 octane should get another 30bhp out of it!

Can't be any bigger than a 7, surely?

Friend of mine in Looooziana bought his wife a Lincoln LS and I got to drive it for a couple of days last year. Basically, it's Ford's response to a Lexus GS300 and is based on the Jaguar S-type floorpan and running gear. Not a bad car, for a Yank, but I'd never get one in preference to a 540 BMW.

I've been seeing these things everyday here and they are about as tasty as David Mellor's toes(so I've heard).
Surely there's something else out there, anything!
Cars like this are the reason people here in the U.S are amazed by cars from Europe which we wouldn't look at twice.
Not a fan of the new 7 but what about the face lifted S500 coming up? Or even the current S500? Did I hear Brabus?
