So I have an old Audi that isn't attracting any sensible interest as a dirt cheap private sale so I plan to scrap it this week.

Any tips on getting the best scrap price? Just a case of phoning a few local yards, or is there some kind of scrapping website that will get me more money and less hassle?

Cartakeback paid me more than I expected for a couple of rusty micras I had on the drive. Wasn't megabucks, but was more than just weighing it in. Also they came to me to collect.

If you really want the best price, break it for parts yourself.

Other than that, I'd say either take one of the not-sensible offers or just phone up someone who can collect and get it buggered off with the minimum of hassle.

Removemycar or Cartakeback can both be good - it’s heavily dependent on your area though, neither buy cars they are just an aggregator for local scrappers.

Fill the car with any other metal scrap you have e.g. old brake discs/drums etc.

The value of a scrap car is pretty low at the moment, I am being offered £60 for a Citroen C2 on cartakeback. I scrapped a Ford Cougar about 7 years ago and got £160 for it.

I would just go on cartakeback, accept the price and get them to collect it as you are unlikely to get more than a few pounds more by searching around.
