Caterham day hire Northwich - Suggest route please!
Discussion
I've my birthday coming up in the next couple weeks, and for something different my wife has booked a day hire of a Caterham (360 I believe), from 09:30 to 17:30 on a week day. Hired from Oakmere Motors in Northwich. I suggested it after seeing a few glowing reviews on here.
I'm not familiar with that area of Cheshire, so I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion on a possible route and destination? I'm imagining I'll either be heading west into wales or east into peaks, but beyond that I'm clueless.
It'll just be me and the wife, and hopefully we'll cover a good few miles of nice quiet winding roads, stopping somewhere for a decent lunch. There is 120 miles included, but I'm happy to exceed that for somewhere worth it.
Cheers.

I would just mention that if you have driven a Caterham before, you should be fine, but if not, be a little wary of what they do, until you have got the feel of it. I was at Caterhams Dartford factory some years ago, and there were a number of damaged cars at the side of the building, when I asked what had happened to them, the Caterham guy I was talking to, said they were cars that had been hired by people whose enthusiasm was greater than their driving.
Bit like those people who hire a Ferrari/ etc for their wedding day, and end up smashing it.

P.s I hope the day you go is a dry, sunny one, in which case you will have a hoot.
Appreciate the concern & definitely take note of that. Looking forward to the overall experience rather than testing any sort of performance/ability limits. Passenger would be less than appreciative of any sideways action for sure! The guys at Oakmere have said if there is any bad weather forecast, they've no problem rescheduling thankfully.

I'd head straight into Wales and wander wherever took my fancy, Snowdonia/Gwydir are full of great roads.
Yeah I was thinking Snowdonia might be a good place to aim. Thanks for the input.Yep don't drive it with even a sniff of dampness on the road if it's the first time behind the wheel. You don't need to be pushing at all for a Caterham to get very sideways, very quickly and it may catch you unaware. Mine goes sideways at 20mph on a not that tight roundabout...
And of course there are no airbags..

Just for an update. Picked up a 360S yesterday. Spent the day making a racket around the south Peak District.
Weather was a little drizzly in the morning, but broke away lovely in the afternoon.
Honestly the most fun I've had on a day out. The simplicity, noise, handling, acceleration is like nothing I've experienced, hard to believe it's a mid range model!
Couldn't recommend it enough.
Even more jealous now of all you owners... One day...

Hi there,
Only just read the first post and can see you have recently enjoyed your days hire.
Myself and a friend headed up to the Peaks recently in my newly finished GBS Zero (similar design to a Caterham) and like you say the roads are superb.
Heres a little video we put together, and yes my friend is a videographer which helped.
