With winter approaching, I'm dreading night time drive home from work. Mainly due the proliferation of absolutely ridiculously bright headlights.

So, I was wondering if anyone had success with these Glare blocking glasses.... is it making any difference?

Glasses? Ha!

Just join the race to out-glare them; try some of these - Make sure you mount them in a big reflector housing!

My optician told me that if you're of a relatively fair complexion it's normal to suffer from glare.

I actually found my problem was that I was looking at the light as it approached. I found changing my focus to the kerb when something bright approached was enough to solve the problem.

Tried the yellow glasses years ago, they were ok.

So they condemn yellow tinted glasses, and then go onto promote their own 'AR Coating'.

Ok....

OP - I've had the yellow tinted glasses for about 6 years now, and found them to help me quite a bit (despite the article cited above).

It is however important to only wear them once it's dark, otherwise they don't perform as advertised.

Also - once dark, important colours like red, amber and green are preserved which is useful.

I recommend them.

My grandad had a pair of these in his Sierra. I used to wear them as a kid, very funky. He thought they were good but I think they were a bit of a fad.

I’ve been told I need these for night time driving but haven’t got round to it yet, if anyone can recommend a decent pair?

Thanks for the tip, I might give it a go. I found some Amazon specials for £26, hardly a major expense.

Will report back once it gets properly dark smile

So that'll be after the summer time ends next month.

They make a huge difference when cycling in low light so can't see whey they wouldn't when driving in same.

I understand this reference, and I appreciate it.

(Btw, that video has been thoroughly excised from the internet, which is a shame because it was incredible.)

I've been intrigued by these as well. I may have stumbled across that same article as did read that it didn't help but actually cutting down on glare and eye strain for night driving would be helpful.

At this time of year I spend a number of hours driving on dark motorways so any real world feedback would be good.

I have an eye disorder called keratoconus which totally prevents me from driving in the dark due to glare. This is how I see things...

I've often wondered about these glasses, but my optometrist said they're not advised, and can actually make things worse. Maybe it's just in my extreme case? Might be worth a shot though, I'd love to be able to drive at night again.

My eye sight is pretty good, but at night my astigmatism (where your eyes are slightly rugby ball shaped not round) causes headlights to glare a lot.

I don't need glasses to drive but I always wear them at night and it makes a huge difference. Get your eyes tested I never had an issue before a few years ago.

When I say glasses, I mean regular glasses not yellow ones lol.

I've tried some cheap Chinese jobbies, my eyes are quite sensitive to glare, found while they do cut the dazzle they at the expense of a little detail, particularly unlit hazzards. So for example, while the bicycle riding pillock with his 3000W strobe will no longer blind you into not seeing the other bicycle riding pillock with no lighting and dressed all in matt black, your more likely to fail to pick his outline out from the background.

My advice to anybody contemplating a pair of these glasses is to either buy a reputable brand, or buy from an optician.

Mine are prescription lenses so I have to get them from an optician anyway.

If I remember correctly, at the time I was also offered an anti glare coating, however I refused that as it makes them a bugger to keep clean!!!

Yeah, I don't need them that much.

But - my commute is full of tight bends and brows of hills, where even correctly adjusted headlights cause glare. And with no street lights, the contrast is just too much, hence I'm looking for something to reduce the contrast, more than anything.

It had been re-hosted a few months back but was then deleted again, presumably by a copyright claim.
