Friend has very kindly offered to let me have a drive of his i8. Feeling very conscious of its value I would like to make sure I am insured so that in the event the worst happens he doesn't have to come and remove a kidney. Any recommendations on temp cover? Can't get a quote from the likes of TempCover or Confused. Am 33 years old, have many years no claims and I passed my test some 15 odd years ago, not like I am some 18 year old. However I guess a car of its value this is tricky to achieve?

Might be easier/cheaper for him to add you to his existing policy...

Before going for anything too scientific, have you had a look at something like the Cuvva app? Just make sure you read the T&Cs to ensure you're covered to a good level, and do your best not to bin it - I hear they are quite slow anyway, so it would be a job. tongue outbiggrin

i've just recently bought 2 second hand cars. both were in fairly dense areas where i'm not used to driving. ended up speaking with my existing insurer - Direct Line - explained thinking of buying. On both they agreed to add the car to my policy free of charge for 24 hours so i was covered for the test drive and drive home. One was a honda civic whilst the other was a 4.2 Audi.
i'd suggest giving your insurer a call and say you'll be test driving it and could they give you temporary cover.
