Parking Fine or Not!
Discussion
Went to a local'ish country park and arboretum at the weekend to see the autumn colours / leaves. Paid for our parking with RingGo as I didn't have any change. Therefore a bit surprised to find a parking penalty notice on my car upon our return from wandering round the woods.
On further inspection the registration is wrong by one letter, a V instead of a Y, hence it wouldn't have flagged up to the parking attendant that I'd paid. A large part of me says to ignore this altogether and let them figure it out (if they can!), don't see why I should have to waste any further time on it. The registration with the V in it though is valid and belongs to an Audi TT so somebody else may soon be getting harassed unnecessarily.
Could also be tempted to do a Joe Lycett style wind up replying but also invoicing them £80 for wasting my time which I'll reduce to £40 if they pay with 30 days?

If it does turn out to be a private operator associated with the IPC, then refer them to their own lead adjudicators report for 2016/2017 on the matter....

Of course, it is incumbent upon the motorist to take reasonable care in entering their details, and
when they fail to do so properly very often a charge may be justified. However, where the mistake is
so trivial that even someone applying their full attention might not realise - such as entering a ‘0’
instead of a ‘O’ or a ‘1’ instead of an ‘I’ - then it is, in my view, unfair to enforce a charge.
As a consequence, I released guidance to all the adjudicators that they should have regard to the
nature and extent of such mistakes in determining whether a charge is lawful. I am pleased to say
that, since issuing the guidance, there has been a visible reduction in the amount of cases where
operators pursue such parking charges and far fewer (justifiably) frustrated motorists as a result

This happened to me. My wife and I have personal plates, one letter different. I paid on RingGo, picked my car by pure habit, came out of the cinema to find a ticket on hers. Emailed them, got no response. Picked up the phone to the number on the ticket, explained the situation, both cars were on my profile and this seemed to be the clincher. They cancelled the ticket
I'm realising now that I haven't made this very clear. My registration, as entered on RingGo, is correct. The registration on the penalty notice is wrong, i.e. whoever was checking my car didn't read my plates correctly. I've done nothing wrong! Because of that I'm not sure they've got any way of contacting me? They might go chasing after someone who owns an Audi TT instead.

In the circumstances that you have now clarified, I think you can ignore the ticket.Any problem, just mention my name.
