Browsing for a replacement family wagon I was amazed to see a Guilia Quadrifoglio with 47k miles on it in a year. Well done to whoever has done that but allowing for 35mpg that's still 1,342 gallons or 6096 litres or £8500 on fuel alone. I expect it will be more.

I don't drive big mileages at 10-15k pa but just wondered who on PH runs sports cars for monster miles and whether you change annually or run them into the ground?

I'm doing 30,000 pa in an Audi S7.

Averaging 24 mpg, on a run with radar cruise on it can sometimes hit 32mpg, assuming it's 2am, on the M74, with a tailwind and just me and a packet of mintos in the car.

I am, unsurprisingly, looking to change it.

My credit card bill looks like the Yemeni national debt, although I plan to buy Hartlepool with my Nectar points.

Anyone want to buy a mint 72,000 mile S7 with full dealer history let me know.

I intend to replace it with a Maserati GT.................................and a diesel Avensis

Ha good on you.
You're currently in second place! Come on we need a Veyron doing 30k pa.

For the avoidance of doubt (as the mods moved me here as I wasn't very clear in the original post) I'm not looking for recommendations, just proof a few of you are barking mad and are running a car you love rather than a diseasel eurobox.

haha.

I had a Passat courtesy car for a couple of weeks earlier this year. The girl at the local Shell station thought I'd died.

The chap who used to work at McLaren will have a better handle on it, but there was a German captain of industry who used to commute big mileage (200 miles return each day I think) in an F1 GTR... Not sure how long I that lasted but 1000 miles/week in an F1 must be a contender, plus it would have the highest average speed as he regularly sustained 200mph on his commute.

This is actually a myth, he commuted using it once or twice and people seem to think he used it daily. Pretty sure it was mentioned on the Flemke thread.

not quite "supercar" or "bonkers car that I love", but I've done around 25k since july in a 3L Vito - the fuel at 25-30mpg does mean 2-3 fillups a week!

a nigh 2 tonne v6 van hardly compares to a modern car, but the previous car was at 55mpg as comparison!

have also done a 500 mile trip in a fiat coupe once before, but the drone of the engine, the fall of the fuel gauge, and the paranoia of watching the oil pressure meant that will remain as a one off!

Previous owner of my 2016 Mustang GT had managed 46k in two years. Most I have seen on the trip computer is 17mpg.

I saw this car on AT. I can't believe that the asking price is only £5k less than similar age cars with a quarter of the miles (£40k vs £45k). If you are going to pay £40k you may as well stump up an extra £5k and get a low mileage one surely ?

We had a LHD Audi Q7 V12 from new back in 2011. Over the 3 years that we owned it we put 386000km on the clock, apart from routine servicing/tyres at the main agent it never missed beat. It was a astonishing car, unlike the BMW X5 that replaced it that literally fell apart as we piled on the miles

A boss of a big firm I deal with had a Mercedes CL 600 V12 - you could argue that it was made for piling on the miles - but covering 40k in one year was eye watering considering the MPG. Would have been comfy though...

Also know of someone daily driving an Aston DB9 - did 25k miles p.a.

I suspect that thing could have done 300k towing your house.

That’s pretty impressive, I only managed 61500miles in 24mths in my 4.2 Q7 - which I thought was a fair effort

I averaged 21.7mpg over the time and distance( hand calculated)

Do you use the loud pedal as an on / off switch?

My wife averages 25.5 from hers and certainly doesn’t drive like a saint...
