My O/H has a 2007 Focus with the 1.4 Duratec engine.

It's prone to hesitation on a light throttle opening, but accelerates ok under heavier throttle settings, even foot to the floor is fine.

Almost as if it's running too lean.

I've not run diagnostics in it as yet (no access to any suitable kit) so I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Thanks.

This should be in the Technical part of the forum, I am guessing you moved it over to here

The mods did move it to the technical forum but I requested that it be moved back due to lack of exposure.

I have since run diagnostics on the ECU and no fault codes are reported.

My next step is to check the plugs.

I had something similar years ago on a Focus 1.6 Zetec.

Turned out to be a faulty coil pack.

Forgot all about this, you've probably fixed it, if you haven't yet sorted it you could take a look under the bonnet at night to see if there are any high voltage leaks to ground

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

I have noticed the car can be a bit reluctant to start on the odd occasion as well.

Maybe you're on to something there!

Well known to get through leads and coil so not a bad idea to replace anyway
