How Often do you fuel up your car and when?

-when the fuel light is on you put in £20
- every week max out the tank?

I get through a tank (65ish litres) every 2 weeks or so. Always fill up.

If I'm near a Costco with under half a tank, I'll usually fill up as it's a decent price and I get more miles per tank than supermarket fuel.

I get 450 ish miles to a tank and normally fill up when it's telling me there's 20-30 miles range left.

That's once every two to three weeks if I don't do any longer trips.

I run my tank between full and half empty. You never know when you might need to get somewhere in an emergency, and I never set off on a journey if I haven't got enough fuel to get back home without worrying about finding a filling station.

My other half runs hers between full and fuel light empty and is always panicking about running out.

I fill it when its empty, or getting near, never run it right down.

How low it goes depends on what I'm doing; I'm not afraid of playing a little yellow light bingo - Always a brim though; If I'm out and about and need a slight top up I'll bung in £10 / 20 unless it's a fairly cheap station.

Same here. Although I did play fuel light bingo last week as I couldn't be arsed to sit in the massive line.

Got a bit twitchy when I went to zero.

I run it to the light, but I usually try finding a reason for the missus to use it when it gets below half and she always fills it. biggrin

Full down to 100km indicated left.... unless I am trying to do a long journey in one! Managed to get home on 1 tank (Zeebrugge to Nyon,Switzerland) after Christmas with the computer giving up on range on the last 1km downhill home.

Roof box and autoroute speeds absolutely destroy fuel economy...

Fill up when the range is down to < 100 miles or maybe sooner if I pass is a cheap petrol station with no queue.

I tend to fill mine up the first time I pass a petrol station after it's gone below 50%; or if the gauge gets down to the point where it's not reading I'll go out of my way to drive to one. The latter is more common than the former, there's no petrol station on my commute.

I don't think I've ever put petrol into a car I own and not filled it up to the brim.

Every night.

Park up in the garage, plug it in and smart plug with timer charges using cheap rate electricity overnight.

Fully charged in the morning.

Repeat.

Ugh. Faffing. I'll stick to a tank of diesel.

Once it's done 260 miles on the trip.

I don't have a fuel gauge and it's only an 8.6 gal tank. Fuel economy doesn't fluctuate much, so pretty accurate really.

Always fill both of mine to full from pretty much empty..... which given both of them hold 100L each is a costly exercise when I'm doing a lot of running about and have to tank them both in the same week frown

Usually fill the cars when the reserve light comes on. Sometimes I let the daily run dangerously low so I can set a new record for how much diesel I can get into it. Best I've ever got is 78.something litres.

Depends on which car I'm driving. Our Fiesta runabout can go for three months between fill ups as it never goes out of town and I can safely run it after the light comes on knowing there's a filling station nearby.

My Riley is topped up just about every time it goes out as its fuel gauge has never worked and it has a small tank and pathetic range of around 200 miles - there's always a can of fuel in its boot.

My A8... if I let the fuel light come on it's been known to trip the £99 pump maximum before it's full so I tend to fuel it when it gets to a quarter full.

All three are always topped up, never part-filled.

Car does circa 800 miles to empty so I fill every 730-750 miles. About every 8 days.
