Scrapping a car
Discussion
I have used that sort of service twice. Can't remember the exact company though.
They turned up and took my MG which was in a seriously poor condition. 4 flat tyres etc, totally undrivable. No problem. I got £80 in cash for it.
They also took my drivable Mondeo straight on the back of a flatbed, again £80
These were a few years ago.
Got a scrapping certificate with both cars, no problems.
Just latley they offered me £13, yes thirteen pounds for my Mondeo.
I traded that in.

A lot of scrapyards may charge a collection fee of £25 or whatever, which on a bodyshell is probably more than the weighing in value of it. I
However, I've used a local metal recyclers several times for full cars, shells, half shells, etc. and they've never charged me anything for collection and just paid out scrap value based on weight. They would just pop a cheque or cash through my letterbox a few days/weeks later. Helps if you get on well with them and are flexible in terms of them collecting/processing as and when convenient for them.
Best thing to do is just google metal recyclers or scrap yards in your area and give them a call, mine were great to deal with.

Are your scrappies only interested in complete cars? I have a soon to be removed shell I've parted out, and haven't a clue if that's of sufficient interest for a scrappy to want.
I wouldn't be after any money either, just need the drive back before the divorce papers are filed.
A few years ago I ran capri's, bought old capris, stripped them and sold the parts on to keep mine running.I wouldn't be after any money either, just need the drive back before the divorce papers are filed.
Having done it once successfully when my wife was away, she wasn't happy with us stripping a second car on the driveway. I was given a weekend to dispose, so we worked hard, stripped it to the shell, stored all parts which left us a shell to dispose of on a sunday.
End result was someone with a petrol cutter sliced it up into small enough pieces to transport it about 1/4 at a time to the local tip in the back of our espace...
We did try our best to reassemble it in the metal skip so it looked like a car jigsaw

(The previous car was taken by the local scrappy but we had to leave the wheels etc on so he could move it)

What a silly price. Can't remember what company we used, but we got close to £200 for the Vectra when it was scrapped. Think the guy was going to use it in a destruction derby then crush it. Viking end in my opinion. They turned up and took my MG which was in a seriously poor condition. 4 flat tyres etc, totally undrivable. No problem. I got £80 in cash for it.

I did that. A guy bought my old Rover 416 GSi and went grass track racing in t.Yes I've used a couple recently.
Google it and try a few as the price offered varied from £60 -150 for my Alfa 156
However they only want complete cars and I'd banger raced it so I took it to the local yard (without the wheels) and they gave me £155 so the online co. are offering decent prices considering they collect.

Only other thing to consider is "would anyone else like to fix it?" I've scrapped cars, only to find they've been fixed and put back on the road.
My sister had a high mileage hrv with a dodgy gearbox. Cost of fixing was more than the car was worth, but from a 99p start on an eBay spares/repairs listing it went for decent cash in the end.

True but the last 3 I've scrapped I've listed on Ebay and had offers around half their scrap value. My sister had a high mileage hrv with a dodgy gearbox. Cost of fixing was more than the car was worth, but from a 99p start on an eBay spares/repairs listing it went for decent cash in the end.
I've used remove my car twice and will be using them again in a couple of weeks (unless someone wants a knackered but running/driving LPG tranny for £200
)
Great service, nice and easy to use, collection can be a bit of a pain with limited slots, but the scrappy they go to for me is miles away so maybe you'll have a bit better luck.
