Worst winter ever. Laughable.

Was going to do the same the weekend past...until I heard we were due snow. This time last year we were caught out by snow up in Stirling, so I'm thinking of keeping them on during March. Just to be on the safe side.

Idiotic thread. Laughable. In many ways.

(One year ago today we were in the grip of The Beast from the East).

We still have to have winter tyres on as the temperatures may drop again, and then we drivers risk a EUR74 fine! (Luxembourg)

I hope to be back on summers again by the end of March, though, as understeer / controlled slides on wet roads with winter tyres on when it's >7C outisde, whilst fun to begin with, can get boring. smile

If I were in the UK, I'd keep them on for the next couple of weeks, at least.

My Summer wheels are off at Lepsons, but I already have my change over date set as the 6th April.

Had the summers for the SLK powder coated last week, back on the car on Saturday. If the weather turns again it'll probably only be for a day.

I put mine on after Christmas and removed them two weekends ago when it had been +10deg since a week after putting them on.
The noise and drop in MPG was pissing me off anyway. It only takes 20 mins to put them back on if the temp drops again, which it will likely do.

Still got the summers on all of ours, and the work vans.

Winter tyres are a bit of a mugs game round these parts.

+1

Where I live don't see the point for a potential couple of days with a "dusting" of snow.

A little early for me. It still gets down to low single figures at night round here.

Mine are staying on. Often it's quite cold and frosty in the early morning when I leave for work, so even if there's no snow it's still worth having them on.

Never seen the need for winter tyres in the UK (and I live in the North Pennines).

Did I miss them becoming a legal requirement?

It was snowing up in East Lothian on Sunday evening... started as rain but by the time I got home, it was lying on the roads. City bypass was hard work, standing water everywhere which made the car a bit lively... even at 60mph with Rainsports at 5mm+

I swapped mine on Sunday, with a scissor jack, my trolley jack is in a lock-up 45 miles away cry

Going from 16" winters to 17" conti sports makes quite a difference to the handling!
